Very misunderstood guyKim English another tech...
Depaul is hot though!!!Creighton has easier game than us IMO
Yeah if Nova loses to SHU in the 6/11 Neptune may get fired before they get back on the bus to Philly. And UCONN could have a tough 1st round game vs. Nova (assuming they win on Wednesday)
To that end Wilcher and especially Scott just need to stop committing dumb fouls. Scott’s 4th yesterday was especially head scratching, had his man smothered far from the basket but still reached in. I have said it before, steals and blocked shots are classic good/bad stats depending on the discipline and intelligence connected to the attempt. Just finished coaching an 11-12 year old team with talent but the two best players came in convinced playing defense meant diving for steals and trying to block every shot and were both convinced “the refs hate me”.Going to be a tough haul if smith can't play and we need to use the bench. Assuming Providence holds then they will push us hard on Thursday. They play hard and physical and really tested us both games. Win that and then Marquette of Xavier is also a tough physical game.
The bench will need to really step up in the tournament. Our guys are tough as nails and premium athletes, but it is a lot to ask these guys to go 36 minutes back to back to back.
That second sentence is going to give Kranmars the DTs, and I'm not even going to mention your complete lack of paragraphing skills. We are used to being beaten down. F that time yo get cocky we will be big east champs abs on the slim chance we run into a buzz saw which can happen I’ve been right all year even Nova when I got nervous. We are going to the final 4 and not 1 game will be within 5 points
The one thing about Providence is that Abdur Rahim who dropped 27 on us at the Garden is out for the year. He gave us fits before we put them away. Providence will struggle with Butler.Going to be a tough haul if smith can't play and we need to use the bench. Assuming Providence holds then they will push us hard on Thursday. Great point regarding Wilcher and Scott fouls. Plus both of them complain on every foul. They are both losing significant playing time with fouls especially Scott who seems to get two quick fouls early in the game. He's excellent on both offense and defense. Needs to stay in the game longer .To that end Wilcher and especially Scott just need to stop committing dumb fouls. Luckily, both fathers knew their stuff and backed me in trying to teach them the “LoBalbo” method.
I think Butler is going to beat Providence. And it will warm my heart to see that bitter, inferiority complex having fan base crawl back into their holes. This may be naive, but I think a big factor in holding Deivon out was to give Marquette a completely different look for the semifinal matchup. It’s very hard to bear a team 3x in a season.
BTW how good was Kadary with Stevie Mitchell all over him? That’s one of the best defender’s in the country. If Mitchell stripped any more, Classof2010 would be throwing dollar bills at him.
Not to mention the effect it had on Mitchell’s offense. 39 minutes, 0-7 from the field, 4-7 from the line.BTW how good was Kadary with Stevie Mitchell all over him? That’s one of the best defender’s in the country.
I thought the same thing when I started hearing the “Yukon is back” after beating the likes of Georgetown, Marquette and Seton Hall. Our backcourt and defense killed them with pressure. That shouldn’t change. I’d rather be us than them if we rematch with them. Kemba Walker is not walking through that door. It’s just a bad matchup for the Yukon. It’s been very enjoyable. The notion that it’s hard to beat a team 3x is actually a myth. A college reporter did a deep dive a few years back and the success rate is actually quite high. It’s a good matchup that sticks for the third time around more often then not.
It’s not a myth. Those #s are heavily skewed by dominant teams beating inferior teams — like 2024 UConn and DePaul. They often matchup in the first rounds of the conference tournament. The notion that it’s hard to beat a team 3x is actually a myth. A college reporter did a deep dive a few years back and the success rate is actually quite high. It’s a good matchup that sticks for the third time around more often then not.
I bought into the 3x thing a few years ago - think Lavin’s last year when we made the dance in the 8/9 game - hoping it would get us past Providence in the 4/5 BE game if I recall correctly. Who then went on to absolutely destroy us.The notion that it’s hard to beat a team 3x is actually a myth.
