2025-26 Rankings

Nearly doubled up #286 Bucknell, 48 point win, which increased our KenPom from #19 to #17. Big tests start Monday vs. #6 Iowa St.
I really hate that the KenPom metrics encourage and reward these kind of beatdowns that essentially require teams to keep their foot on the throats of opponents, long after the body is cold. Yes, it's not CYO, but when a top 15 team plays a less than outstanding mid-major team, instead of extended garbage time you have rotation players plsying racehorse basketball almost end to end.

Not faulting Rick nor the players one bit. These are the rules that define rankings and seedings, and that's all there is to it.

Question: If we win our first 2 games, do we play another team that's 2-0?

If so, then it'd be very tough for them to win also.

Yes, almost certainly we'd face a 2-0 team. They're using margins so maybe if we only win by a basket each game it's possible we'd face a 1-1 team? I'd be very surprised though.

I agree 3-0 will be very difficult. Even game one we may be underdogs since Iowa St has a higher KenPom.

I agree, and it's not only KenPom but the official NCAA NET system that greatly rewards beatdowns. The old RPI system didn't encourage you to do anything besides win.

I get what you're saying but none of the top 8 played more than 22 minutes. Lefty out minuted Ayo and Sellers 15 to 13 to 11, and the guys who won't play much outside of garbage time played 21 minutes (not including Lefty or Ayo since I'm not entirely sure what their final roles are going to eventually be with such a well defined top 8). Can't ask those other guys to let up. They want to play too and will have limited opportunities to do so.

My guess is Rick knows Lefty less likely to see much court time in Vegas so he was given plenty of run. When we doubled their score by mid 2nd half lineup could have been much more ragged with Tamba and out of rotation players

Johnnies remain #14 in AP, move up one spot to #15 in coaches poll

And look at that, sju lose to Alabama and drop 8 spots, meanwhile uconn lose to Arizona and only drop 2? That's some bs.
They beat NTU but it wasn't the same week.
Whatever.
