2025-2026 Season

This is really the only season over the past couple decades where they DON'T need to convince students to go by providing a free (but costly for the school) concert. Not ideal, but putting resources elsewhere may be the right call.

I'd be extremely curious about how much Midnight Madness costs in that it actually impacts the university doing other things to engage students. If I remember correctly, Repole was public about his literal support of getting students at MSG last year.

This reeks of a spin-zoned, bad excuse.

On one hand, I get it if just date was an issue or if considersble more tickets & transport to games are going to students for better game optics.. but if just for watch parties etc..I think its a bit of a cover to save $$..and bad look on one of the few traditions program had.

Seems cheesy since students and probably all the players love it. Oh well, on to Saturday.

Student government used to work with the coaches directly when I was in school. We ran the road trips, booked and paid for the artists, and even did all of the student season tickets right down to who sat where. We always had a huge surplus at the end of every year...I think the biggest check I signed was for $125,000.

That relationship needs to be revived.

Agree 100%. This is something every major school does for their students. It is a great way to hype the season and get the students involved. Keep the T-shirts and pay for the tip off. Makes us look like minor leagues....

I used to lose sleep the nights leading up to midnight madness. This was when a first glimpse at Tyshawn Edmondson meant something. I didn't even bother watching the last couple for whatever reason. This decision doesn't effect me, and personally I'm much more excited for an actual broadcasted exhibition, but I'm sure there are some younger fans who are really upset about this and I get it.

My freshman year at st johns, J Cole showed up to the tip off event by surprise. I was a massive J Cole fan in high school and I will never forget him coming out

With that said, other years it was not as fun. The music performances are never very good. The scrimmage is always a half assed all star game.

Feel for the students, but always felt like there is a way to split the difference and make our first home game as much as a "tip off" event as possible. Introduce the entire roster before the game, and then actually watch them play a real game

These names actually bring me down. We used to have to try so hard to see anything positive.
