2023-24 Roster

If they can get Ledlum this is the best roster of any SJU team since the 1999-2000 team and I think this one is deeper and with a better coach. Even without Ledlum you can make that case.

It is literally insane how he has overturned the roster in a few months and simultaneously upgraded it this much. And I know people like to say NIL but that is a bit overrated. NIL or not none of this happens if they don't hire Pitino. Kids wants to play for him for obvious reasons.

Going back and re-watching Pitino’s press conference is interesting. He was so matter-of-fact in his plan to re-make the roster that I couldn’t help think he was posturing. Turned out he really does have the pull and connections and vision to make it happen.
 
Feel like Ledlum is important piece. Not sure what to expect from Drissa and Quinn. IMO we need another “big” body to compete on the boards to have the season I would like to have.
 
I am allowing for an extra cup of coffee this AM and allowing me to create lineups based with Ledlum in it. No Jinx.

We would have:

PG - Jenkins / Wilscher
SG - Dingle / Alleyne
SF - Taylor Jr / Luis
PF - Ledlum / Siazinski
C - Soriano / Zuby

Now that wouldn't just be a BS St. John's team, that would be a team of talent and experience.

I gotta tell you, I’m watching the replay of Iona play against UConn in the Tourney. Just finishing up the first half which Iona is winning and you can see how good we are going to be under Pitino.

Jenkins has been very good as has Alleyne and I will tell you that Sadiku Ayo is absolutely better than I thought he’d be. I hadn’t seen much of him but he’s a real player too.

They were working over UConn in a lot of ways in the first half with the exception of UConn’s size which they could not stop, as well as much greater depth. The offensive style should give all our guys a lot of flexibility to score. SJU is immensely more talented and deep than this Iona team and brought some of their best pieces over. Gonna be a fun season.

Lol. I know how it ends. Just wanted to see Rick P’s system and the few guys we are bringing aboard. All of em can play and we add a lot to these guys. Also thought the refs helped uconn out getting them ahead with a couple of bad non-calls as Clingan travels almost every time he touches the ball. That said, we are gonna look real good with the talent we have in this system.
 
Now that Ledlum has been Re- Pitinoized and saw his salvation in Jamaica , instead of Knoxville , how about a little Pitino magic dust sprinkled on Mgbako and Clayton jr and see what happens . Why not ?

Clayton might be a important get if Jenkins doesn’t get here . I’m hoping Jenkins gets to campus soon , which would make Clayton irrelevant .

Mgbako is a fantasy of course but , who ever thought Ledlum would come or Wilcher or , Dingle ? Dingle was more a absolute than we thought .
