2021-2022 Schedule

Cant wait for season to start. Not going to get too excited or alarmed by scrimmages. I do think we will look back and see Coburn as a very good late pickup though.

Yes 1-7;really bad ,think Wheeler was 0-4 Pinzon did not have a good game  perhaps he did get much time who know he’s better than that as I said not seeing the games can not make a judgement Disturbed by our defense

with all the new players learning an entirely new system plus needing to build chemistry on the court together I'm not going to get worked up over this. Gotta win the games out of the gate and even more importantly dont dig ourselves in a hole when conference play starts

We got 16 days to get it improved before an important non-conference road game @Indiana on November 17th!  Let’s tidy it up fellas!  Not trying to look past anybody here, but a road win against a Big Ten team is going to be important for our resume’ come tourney time.

27% from 3 was disappointing , we were suppose to be a good 3 pt shooting team. Can’t get my expectations to high until this team can show us wins. uRI scared me. What are we going to do against div 1 teams in the big East.
keeping the faith that it comes together

God I remember when the URIs of the world were relegated to the Lapchick Memoral Tournament and Chris Mullin and Felipe Lopez would combine for 50/30/20 in a laugher thanks to Frank Mulzoff's motion offense.

What a joke we've become.

Here is the way I see it. We blow out Baruch and our fan base overreacts...we lose to URI and our fan base overreacts.

I think it is fair to say we are some where in between.

Zach says URI not expected to be good in the A-10, but who knows for sure about that either.

Let's move on into the real season and trust the coaching staff, I do.

Mentioning URI, Mullin, Lopez and Mulzoff, what?

Too much Candy Corn methinks.

Right now we have one proven solid Big East level 3 point shooter: Champ. Hopefully Posh can up his 3 point shooting %  and Smith and Coburn can shoot as well from 3 at a higher level conference. Don't know that anyone else is projected to give us much from outside. But then again, Earl and GWill surprised us from 3 last season, so maybe Wusu and/or someone else will step up from outside. Don't see Wheeler or Mathis doing it though. Again, too early to tell what the strengths and weaknesses of this team will be.

Here's the fact: No one saw the game. So stop overreacting to a box score. It's the number one mistake a lot of people/gamblers/fantasy sports pundits try to do - make takes off box scores. We don't know how the rotations were used, we don't know what kind of shots were missed, we have no clue as to anything. You also can't foul out in a scrimmage and so many more variables that could change the outcome of a real game.

Box scores like this should be taken with a grain of salt, but obviously the first reaction is always negative. Soriano looked like he played well and cleaned up his free throws from the Baruch game, same with Wheeler at the line. Coburn was consistent from 3, clearly fouled too much. You have outliers with Posh, Stef and Mathis all having duds. and even still you lost the game by 2.

Positive thoughts. Game 1 is 8 days away. We have a massive season on the way.

There will be highs and lows all season. Thar's basketball for 99% of the college basketball programs. Best to get used to it to avoid board insanity. The scrimmage is as important as any exhibition game in any sport. It isn't. The only thing we know is Champ has the potential to be an All-American and Big Est POY, and Posh can repeat as best defensive player.  I expect a good season, but expect some time for the roles of the rest of the team to be defined, and the CMA system to be working as planned.

Look, I just want to get back to the days of Marcus Hatten lobbing alley-oops to Jeff Allen.

Marcus to Allen Lobs would have to had been long--like over 20 years./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Posh's line in interesting in that his assists are better than last year's average (and could have been higher if the shooting was better).  Expecting him to have a top 5 SJU assist season (Mark's 328 is a stretch for anyone)

Well said.

Red/White games and exhibition games should never be taken seriously, good or bad.  Most coaches throw unorthodox lineups in this situation to try to see what works and basically use it as a glorified practice.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I thought during the tournament I heard them mention Baylor lost an overseas exhibition game, and they ended up winning the whole thing.  And also it's better to get a loss out in an exhibition game and learn than it is a regular season game.  Hopefully that will humble some guys and let them know every night they will have a target on their back and they gotta bring it.  Also, when Wusu comes back it's going to help a lot.  Either him or Coburn will be the top minutes guy off the bench at the guard spot.

LOL I really like Zach B’s “URI not expected to be good in A10 this year”… Talk about surfing for clicks.

I doubt many people have any idea what players are even on URI given college basketball free agency. Heck, I’m still struggling to get my hands around the St. John’s roster. I think we have what Champ, Posh and Wusu as returning players who have actually played?
