The Cohen news is sickening. Absolutely sickening. Between this and Dolan continually running the Knicks into the ground I don’t know how much more I can take. At least the Mets have talent but ughhhhh why couldn’t The Cohen thing work out

Why? You can thank the Wilponzies.
Only the Wilpons can screw up the sale of a ML team. Steve Cohen deal is on life support as the Wilpons don't want to give up control. Why should he give them multi billions for seats and NO SAY??? We fans are screwed again by the Wilpons
Hard to tell what's true and not true at this point, but if the story I heard is accurate and the thing that blew up the deal was Jeff Wilpon wanting to remain as GM after Cohen took over then the Wilpons are out of their minds.
I really feel for Met fans. Nobody deserves this kind of abuse from a team owner in this city.

Great comment in NY Times column by Michael Powell "The Wilpons call to mind that family down the street that talks of selling the old house even as they insist any new owner must let their son retain the master bedroom." His article basically says that Mets and Knicks are being killed by Nepotism. Wilpons=Dolans where the son is given the business because he is the son, regardless of ability. We are doomed until these two families fully divest themselves of NYC sports franchises.
“If Steve Cohen was willing to pay $2.6 billion for a team that hemorrhages money and no TV revenue before coronavirus, the Wilpons can expect Josh to pay them 20 cents on the dollar now,” said a source familiar with Harris and Blitzer.
As we wait on a decision from the @MLB on the baseball season, I'm excited to announce that the @Yankees and the @Mets will resume their training here in New York for the first time in years.
NY will review the teams' plans to make sure the trainings are safe

What a difference a year makes. I hope you guys have a great couple of months. Always more fun when the Yanks and Mets are both good.
Every year I have a bet of some sort for a bottle of booze with a friend who is a diehard Mets guy. He's been on a bad run lately, I've won the last 4 or 5.
This year its a clear tossup. Most HR's between Judge and Alonso.
Hope this wasn’t the highlight of the season but today was an exciting game and had the feel of a real season opener. Fantastic pitching and one big blast.
With the DH likely a permanent part of the NL Cespedes would be an attractive commodity should he has a great year. He should stay healthy if he doesnt have to play the field. He could be good for 25 to 35 hone runs, 90 RBI and $15-25 million per
Can't say I am surprised that the Mets didn't score a run for DeGrom. Cohen mentioned Jake had a one plus era at City Field yet he has a losing record. Looked like another Cy Young award will be coming his way if he continues to pitch like yesterday He was throwing bullets, reaching 100 and 99 with his fastball. Gee, even his changeup was 93. Five innings - 72 pitches, 1 broken bat hit, no runs and 8 K's.

What I don't understand is why none of the card board cut out fans go after balls hit into the stands. On a sad note I heard a card board cut out fan was hospitalized after getting hit in the head with a foul ball as the protective netting hasn't been set up yet. Also 2 card board fans were arrested for having public sex in the stands.

Love the idea
