2020 NY Mets Season

So it appears that we start 2020 sans manager. Typical Mets, problems materialize out of the ether. Oh well, there’s nowhere to go but up.

So who will be managing in 2020?
Terry Collins?
Buck Showalter?
Bobby V?
Dusty Baker?

Baseball and the Commissioner are a joke. You can’t punish one and not punish all.

Wasn't baseball or Commish-mutually parting of the ways. Truth is Mets didn't want the leader of the team to be a known cheater and didn't want to take the heat for same.

Keith Hernandez with George Costanza as bench coach, Kramer as pitching coach and Neuman as hitting coach.

If true, why was Beltran the only player mentioned in Report? Manfred is afraid of the players union and Beltran was no longer a player and didn’t have the same protections.

Now the Red Sox and Astros are full of now known cheaters. They used the information. They benefitted from it. They said nothing. They knew it was wrong? So he only had the stones to address the soft target? Where are the fines and suspensions for them?

The story as it's been communicated is that the players were given blanket immunity so that the league office could get all the details. Beltran was not punished by the league office as he was a player when this happened. Not punished, but tarnished by being the only player identified in the report. Could be because he was the leader, could be because he's no longer a member of the union. Probably both.

And CMA beat me to it with Wally Backman who also never got to manage a game after getting a major league manager's job. If he's not available maybe Lenny Dyskstra. ROFL

Rumor has it that a guy was seen lurking around Citi with sunglasses and false mustache. Initials on his license plate were BV. ;)

On the serious side-Buck Showalter is still available but I don't think he is the answer.

I agree. Buck isn't the best guy for the Mets. The Astros need him in the worst way to restore even the lowest level of credibility to that franchise.

The Mets don't need a micro manager like Buck. They need a guy like Aaron Boone who can engage with the media in a friendly fashion, who relates to their players, and embraces analytics.

Beltran was the perfect candidate but Hensley Muelens would be fine. So would Eduardo Perez.

Can he have Wally Backman as his bench coach?
