[quote="Paultzman" post=385882]Becton as a HS Hooper

I wonder how long it took for Becton's hand imprint to come of that kid's face.

Gastineau ran the 40 in a freakish 4.55. Becton's speed for his size (6'7 365) is like a freight train going full blast. (5.1)

I coached boys CYO for 5 seasons. We had this big Korean kid who was like 5'7" 180-200 when the other kids were like 4'6 and 65 lbs. He had a mean streak and we had a lousy team, so late in games he would get mad and clothesline opponents on the way to the basket. His arms didn't budge as these kids legs out from under him. Of course he immediately got tossed a few times. Becton playing basketball looks like that.

Can Redmen.com be the first official use of the term Mount Becton to describe the Jets' new left tackle?

I have a lot of faith in Becton being a starter for a long time in green and white.

But for the Jets, due to Robby Anderson leaving, and not drafting any WR's other than one guy, the one pick that absolutely has to pan out for the jets is Denzel Mims. A lot of people are saying he is the steal of the draft, but we will have to wait and see. The Jets have NEVER drafted a good wide receiver since I started following the team. They drafted Stephen Hill one year, Alshon Jeffrey was the next off the board. Devin Smith, ArDarius Stewart, Chad Hansen, Chareone Peak. Busts all over the place. Quincy Enunwa was the most talented drafted WR I have seen the last 10 years for the Jets and unfortunately he cannot stay healthy.

Overall I liked what the Jets did in the draft but you can never really know if it was a good draft until down the road.

Here's one thing I do know. If everyone stays healthy, and if there is a football season this year, the Jets will have a good defense. Like one of the best in the league. Thats also assuming this Jamal Adams BS doesn't lead to a trade. But they have a good group of guys, including probably the deepest Linebacker core in the entire league.

The question mark is the offense. Joe Douglas has acquired through FA and the draft like 8 new O Lineman, if they can protect Darnold, and also create lanes for Bell, I believe in the offense as well. But Mims has to be good. The Jets need a true #1 wide receiver that Darnold can trust. He already trusts Crowder as a solid slot option, but he needs a true #1 on the outside.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic on the personnel side of things, still not a fan of Gase though. I think Jets are heading towards an 8-8 season that gets Gase fired and hopefully they hire the right guy and take off from there.

This post is getting long but when I start talking jets it is hard to stop.

Have to disagree, Mims being good is a bonus, Perriman and Doctson being good is required for a good offense, Throw in Herndon and we should be OK. If mosley i healthy the D should be awesome.

If you’re hoping for Josh Docston to be a big part of the offense I ask you look up what Josh Docston has brought to the table in his NFL career.

Perriman is the real wild card. Barely has done anything most of his career but then exploded at the end of the year when Mike Evans and Chris Godwin got hurt. Not sure if he’s a reliable option. Mims being a stud is the best bet for the jets especially looking towards their future

Doctson is the 4th option. Perriman should take over robbies production anf the big lift will be hernden who will be sams go to guy when the pressure is on. I would love for Sims to be an early bloomer but there are not many recieviers who are great their first year.

Last year AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Terry McLaurin all had great seasons for rookie WRs. All of them were drafted in the 2nd and 3rd round too. Metcalf was the 64th pick last year. Mims was 59. I'm not expecting Mims to be anything crazy as a rook, but it is not outside of the realm of possibility

Jets LB CJ Mosley has decided to opt out for 2020 due to family health concerns, sources tell ESPN. #Jets
