#20 Marquette, Sat., Mar. 8, 12 Noon, FOX

It would be extremely impressive to win today without Smith. It is always disappointing when you have an injury in a big game. I really want the team to be as healthy as possible for the NCAA tournament. It would great to win the Big East tournament but would rather be as close as possible to 100 percent for the NCAA's.

Battle on D, get some modest help off bench, keep it close, be physical wearing out M’Q like last time and be in position to steal one in last three minutes. Tough formula, but these guys always stay in games.

Obviously we will miss Smith’s tempo setting play at both ends. Bigger issue is the chronic nature of Smith’s injury. Also, even when back, his aggressive style makes him vulnerable to re-injury. That is a challenge heading into BE T & Dance play, 🤞

Fasting is no joke they don’t even drink water until after sun down so obviously hydration becomes a serious issues as these guys crap up as it is. Was watching a player a few days ago eating and drinking on the bench who had fasted and he had very sub par game for him finishing with just one point.

Curbelo’s popcorn eating on the Bench has to be among the classic moments .
Fasting or not , it was so typical of him .

Wish him well , where ever he is .. Talent wasted . Too bad .

Marquette is a really good matchup for us I believe in general. They have some smaller not super quick guards so our length and athleticism are tough for them. They also don’t have great bigs so in theory we should be able to crash the glass. Of course tougher when you are missing one of those top 6 but hopefully Ayo, Rueben and maybe lefty can give us some nice mins off the bench. Please leave Vince welded to the bench for this game w their lack of size.

Vince is the backup center and will play when Zuby needs a rest. The Vince hate is so bizarre around here.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT THE MARQUETTE GAME. PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC.

Hopefully two full weeks off for Smith will get him as healthy as he’s gonna be for postseason run.

Appreciate the explanation on Vince role, that was educational. Vince has no role in this game with Marquette. They only play one big and they all play on perimeter.
Again, Vince has a role in every game as he is the backup center to Zuby. So unless you have Zuby penciled in for 40 minutes, Vince will be playing today.

Education completed!

I think the bigger problem was that neither he nor Posh was effective playing without the ball. Poor choice of a new transfer by Mike Anderson.
So? Teams have had that issue, and won in the past. Heck, I don't think Richmond or Smith are effective offensively as a 2 guard (defensively it works, because of Richmond's size).

In a way, Smith's shoulder woes have sort of taken care of that issue.
