@#19 Connecticut, Fri., Feb. 7, 8p, FOX

Smith needs to get the basket in transition. Their guards have no chance to stop him. We can live with some ugly misses. He’s the most athletic kid on the court every game by a mile and he has to be absolutely relentless stacking the rim before the defense gets set.

If Ball is going run off screens and shoot 10-12 threes, take his legs away pushing pace on the other end.

I want this one so bad. Watching the game with a UConn alum and former roommate that cheated me out of 4K. If his wife was home might be shooting webs at her like I was Peter North. Let’s go in there gut them like the pigs they are and play some craps at Mohegan. And the Boneyard can suck deez nuts!

There is no love loss between Hurley and Pitino. Pur team is going to be tired, less time to prepare etc etc etc.

But does it matter? This st johns team is like a bunch of cyborgs just executing their assigments.

This is the game of the year right here. Friday night at 8. Wow!!!!

Who you rooting for Nostradamus? 😎

St. John's will be just fine against UConn on Friday, even on the road. Here’s why:

1. Pitino's Preparation – Rick Pitino is a master at getting his team ready, regardless of the circumstances. Short turnaround? Tough environment? He’s seen it all and knows how to adjust.

2. Elite Defense – St. John’s thrives on defensive pressure, and that travels well. They’ve shown they can disrupt opponents’ offensive flow, which will be key against UConn’s disciplined attack.

3. Scoring Depth – This isn’t a one-man show. The Red Storm have multiple offensive weapons, making it tough for UConn to key in on any single player.

4. Composure in Big Games – St. John’s has been battle-tested this season and won’t be intimidated by the road atmosphere. They’ll embrace the challenge and execute.

5. Nothing to Lose Mentality – UConn is expected to win at home, but St. John’s can play with an edge, knowing all the pressure is on the Huskies.

Game of the year? Absolutely. But St. John’s isn’t backing down—they’ll be
ready to compete.

I am a st johns fan. I just like danny hurley.

I had this as a loss for the Johnnies but.....Im not sure anymore. This team just refuses to lose.
Hurley has created a dynasty over there. The man is as annoying and arrogant as they come but he is a great coach. This will be the battle of the coaches game. Our D will F them up and rattle them. We are like killer bees 🐝 on defense.

I dont see him as annoying and arrogant. I see him as hysterical, a character and very entertaining for the sport of college basketball.

Gee so nice of the BE scheduling God's to give Pukon a week off b4 we play coming off 2 days rest after a war.....so they will have no excuses when we go up there and bust their ass

Biggest regular season game since first Grown game in 85. UConn not the same as last few years but still good and coached by most obnoxious coach in sports history. Hostile environment, coach that complains on every play, we are not going to get a call. Though that may not be a bad thing considering how we shoot free throws.

A win here really does solidify everything we have done to this point and puts us in top 10, something I never thought we would see again.

Listen with how we shoot the three and free throws, I don’t see us being able to make a long run in the tournament. We will make
it and hopefully win a game or two but if we can win this game and a tournament game, I consider this season a major success no matter what.

One of the last two games on the schedule we won't be favored to win. ESPN matchup predictor only gives us a 33% chance to win.

There’s only 4-5 teams in the country I think we couldn’t beat.
IDT there is any team we can't beat. Some would be harder than others, and some we would need to play the perfect game, but we can play w/ anyone, IMO.

Low expectations for this game. Every factor I can think of trends against us: Hard to get back up to the same intensity level after Marquette (though I think they will be close); on the road at U Conn; Hurley has 6 days to prepare; McNeely returning and (perhaps most importantly) legit size in the post with Reed and Johnson to back him up (if Hurley is sensible but the point is he has depth of size including McNeely).

But defense travels, I am sure this team will compete, and if we hit a few shots they could find a win.

We're the higher motor team, much better defensively, and much better rebounding team. Samson Johnson and Terris Reed are not close to what they've had in their front court in other years. They also foul a lot. They're susceptible to turnovers as well.

The thing that scares me with UConn is that their three point shooting can make you pay for mistakes very quickly. You can be up by five, and in a blink of an eye, be down 1. We got away with missing free throws, but it's hard to bank on getting away with that against other great teams. Free throws will be essential to hit.
