We'll probably play two of those teams at CA, then enter the main draw, with the three teams announced earlier, at the casino.

Yes

We will likely have Figgy and Simon back next year . Plus , Wright, Mack, Steere, Callaher. Achuwuia would be a nice addition .Not sure who else comes on new . Trimble , Williams , Keita , Roberts , Earlington probably return too. Hopefully somebody incoming can shoot 3’s on a consistent basis . At this point , it’s doubtful to know how good these guys will play together and how they will compete in the BE .

We are like (for us Jersey folks) American Dream/Xanadu in a consistent state of rebuild.

Achiuwa.... He'd be great to nab, but I seriously doubt it happens.

That's obviously not happening. Not even getting a visit apparently. Top remaining recruit for next year is Heron. If he leaves there will be one ride to give but it won't be someone as good as Heron. Without Heron next year's roster will be a step down in overall skill though hopefully the stronger frontcourt will address one of this team's worst flaws, rebounding. Hope they can stay middle of the pack.

I agree. I think next year this roster (and who knows where we'll be with defections), without Heron, would be a bit deeper, but certainly lack the top line talent we had this year with Heron-Ponds. Still think a realistic goal, assuming everyone but Ponds & Heron (and obviously Clark) returns is to make the tournament again. Could be 4th or 5th team next year in a much stronger Big East. We'd have less talent, but we'd have no real holes with Steere/Manuel/Roberts/a hopefully improved Keita up front, Simon/Mack/Williams/Trimble/Wright (haven't heard much about him) in the back court. LJ/Carraher out on the wing.

Smart to assume more leaving than not IMO. Not ideal but is what it is.

We’ll see, but roster churn is part of the business

100%, but to our degree is not very common from what I see. Don't we have the most transfers in the conference (leaving) over the past several years? Also regarding schedule, it seems we always have tough OOC schedules in years where it's nearly impossible to be competitive. Then when we are ready to compete we have a weak OOC. Just odd.

It is way too early to know what our roster will be next season but I don't see earning an NCAA tournament bid with the players you mentioned. Outside of Simon if he returns and Figueroa, we don't know what any of the others will provide next year. Trimble would need to improve substantially to continue being anything but a reserve as would Keita. The rest have either not played enough or at all to form any opinion. Even under the unlikely scenario that Heron and Simon stay it seems a stretch to me. Can't say it won't happen but I sure wouldn't bet on it.

Honestly, I see the team put forth by you to be near or at the bottom of the conference.
Weren't Wright and Steere top 50 recruits?
Wright was more like a top 80 player, while Steere was a top 120 recruit. Besides, Wright has already played two "underwhelming" years of college ball. That's not to say, he won't get it going at St. John's next season (for our and, more importantly, his sake, let's hope he does get it going).

I'm just not exactly enthralled with the potential makeup of next season's roster. You already know what I think about the coaching.

Hopefully we'll play more disciplined brand of basketball next year.

Steer was 138 in Rivals and 140 in 247 so neither was near the top 50.

More importantly as MJ pointed out it is completely misleading to use HS rankings for transfers.

Bottom line is outside of Heron (who was a very highly recruited AND productive college player on a major level) the transfers SJU are landing fall into two categories:

1)Players from low majors who excelled and think they can play at a higher level (Caraher, Dixon).
2) High major players who have done very little at their current high major program and are looking for a new start…

Both carry HUGE risks. And that is why you have seen some a lot of uneven play and mediocre results for 4 years.

That is what I am thinking. It will not be easy not to finish last next year.
