Around College Basketball 25-26

While these rev shares rules are in place, it makes you wonder how attractive this job is post-Pitino since we can easily surpass 7 million for rev share.
I have little doubt that the P4 will not put up for long with the BE, A-10, and AAC being able to out-spend them for basketball. Probably sooner rather than later they will get the rules changes, find a work-around, or the good old-fashioned cheating will return in force.

"Return" is cute. Cheating manifests itself in a variety of ways. No doubt the P2, led by the SEC, has and will continue to be the standard for cheating.

Cheating aside, the P2 are doing everything they can to ruin college sports, whether conscious of it or not. The latest and greatest lunacy is the B!G pushing for a 20+ team CFB playoff model, with seven (7) AQs from the B!G and SEC, eliminating conference championships in the process.

And don't you think for a minute that they will not have their filthy hands out, begging fans for NIL, to fund this insanity.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — After Bill Self had his two stents inserted last month, he asked his surgeon if he should be thinking differently about his career.

“Do you love what you do?” the surgeon asked Self.

“Yeah,” Self responded.

“Well, keep doing it.”

I feel like there should be more questions 😆 Doc was clearly a season ticket holder.

And funnel extra money legally through NoBull and other legit businesses. I just can't see the football schools tolerating St. John's and Villanova having this much of an advantage over them for long.
I agree but I also do think there is only so much finite money available for these football programs, that no regulations can combat.

They roster so many more guys, so many more coaches, and the premium positions eat up almost entire basketball budgets inofitself. Ohio State had a 38 million dollar deficit in 2024 FY. That obviously won't stop them for investing in their athletic programs, but it is a big advantage that we don't have to even think about football.

They may have to combat this with private equity. But that is a long-term disaster waiting to happen.

Us being able to legally pay players, plus having that more corporate mindset, should really put us in an advantageous position for years to come -- as long as we make the correct hire after Pitino.
