Big shout out to the medical staff involved in Luis rehab of his shin splints procedure. To get him ready in time for all the practices and the start of the season is really a tremendous job!!!
Although my post says the rehab aspect the shout out includes the surgeon for seeing the vision of the success of the surgery and doing an excellent job putting him in the position to get better.

I should include Luis himself in here as I’m sure he worked so hard to get to this point.

Interesting considering he was not mentioned on any All Big East teams. I maintain that the coaches missed the boat on that.
You can’t blame them for that based on last year and coming off an injury, and I am saying that as a St. John’s supporter. I doubt he is upset about it based on that. He is now showing what a healthy RJ coached and trained by Pitino can do on both ends of the floor and he is not a finished product.

Preseason All-American, All-Conference teams along with pre-season standings means nothing except possibly as a motivational tool for some and I don’t even pay attention to them. Who had Julian on any pre-season team his sophomore year and looked what he accomplished. The only times these list matter is when the regular season is completed and the evidence is in the performance during it.

Even in the moments when there were lots of doubters here, I advicated for him as a plus talent who was a diamond in the rough.

By the same token I am not ready to anoint him based on solid performances against OOC opponents. Yes he showed vastly superior to opponents both under the basket and from the perimeter. The real proof will be how he does against the top of the Big East and nationally ranked OOC teams.

I susoect he will do well but until he does these recent games are little more than encouragement that he has arrived.

I wish the nonsense with Luis would stop; there were no “doubters” as to his ability. There were people, including myself, who recognized and pointed out the obvious, that he too often played for himself and too often made some very unintelligent basketball plays. Those were facts, clear on video, not doubts. NO ONE denied his ability. It is a wonder there aren’t posters here in arm casts from too often patting themselves on the back.

It seems that every game Luis adds to his highlight reel. Kyle Macy started comparing him to Doctor J, profusely then backing off a bit. To me, there is only one Julius Erving, but I don't recall us having a guy with RJ's ceiling as a skywalking force (maybe David Russell) but with the moves of a shake and bake guard. Add to this that his 3 point shot has improved dramatically. Decision making has been great, and his passing very good too. All that and he blocks shots and rebounds too.

All that and he's getting better in front of our eyes.
