Transfer Portal

I watched Clayton Jr against UCONN and definitely like Posh better. Since we all trust Pitino, I suggest that we sit back, let him do his job, and enjoy the ride.
I think if Rick is truly looking to recruit over Posh, he's looking for a way bigger fish to enter the portal than a MAAC kid who may or may not be capable of putting up numbers over the course of a full season against high major teams. If you took Posh right now and put him in the MAAC next season, he'd lead the nation in steals.

Dude? I made a statement. You responded with lecture because you said you disagree. Disagreed about what exactly?
You said about our roster "Many felt it was good enough to be competitive in the BE and go dancing. It was."
By your own words, not my assumption, you and a handful of people said what you said above.
Does that suggest supporting a roster overhaul?
STOP!
RedmanNorth questioned "my values" for suggesting some players would likely have to move on as scholarships are on a year-to-year basis and, as has been made obvious, the players seeking new opportunities has eclipsed 700 as of today. There are hundreds of players that do not share yours, and Ghostbusters, melancholy or loyalty to Alma Mater.
You want to shuck and jive to your preferred conclusion? Be my guest.
We all got the coach we coveted. I trust we haven't questioned his "values" for being brutally honest about our players.
This is a multi-million dollar business and hard decisions had to be made.
Ergo, the team was not good enough to go "dancing"...anywhere, not even the NIT.

Gents, please stop the argument. I don't want to know what started it, but please. Thanks.

You all seem to want this both ways. You want to be a great team. And great teams need great players. But on other hand you want to keep players who are not great
because we can absolutely have it both ways in regards to posh. I can see a great St. John’s team having posh Alexander as a part of the rotation. You guys are underrating him IMO. He’s not some bum

There would be no “may or may not” with clayton. Pitino has coached him for 2 years. He knows exactly if his skills will translate to the big east.

And with teams like Kansas after him, many teams believe he can be a star at a higher level.

There is always gonna be a may or may not when a guy simply hasn’t played consistently against high major competition. i think the kid can play but all LJSA is saying is it’s not a given he’s gonna come in and light the big East up

Want to add here that if Clayton commits here, before anyone starts saying Posh has been sent packing, Posh could easily coexist with Clayton or a Clayton-type player.

Not being able to coexist with a hot dog attention whore who needed the ball in his hands all the time to make a less than positive impact is not the same as coexisting with non-hog dogs who can actually shoot.

Kansas went after Cuffe too. Think he's going to be a star there? I'm sure Self told him he'd be a star.

Pitino has always been a proponent of the three point shot and if one player shoots 43 from three and the other shoots around 15 it will be awfully hard for the 15 per center to win out.

Fair, but ill side w/ pitino and kansas in thinking he can do it.

Interesting thing to me re: the posh discussion is I feel like everyone would be agreeing we need to keep Posh if this happened last offseason and he hadn’t played his third season yet.

It’s one bad season that are making people think it’s fine to punt on him. And I just disagree. Seems like there was a lot of shit going on with the team this year. Curbelo coming in made the roles messy and confusing and I don’t think posh ever found his footing this past season as a result. I’ve been vocal about how Mike A really botched figuring out how to use both of them together.

I just think the guy has a lot of value still and this past season got away from him a little bit but with better coaching he can be fixed to be a tone setter for this team even if that role is off the bench

Again you guys make it sound like there’s only one roster spot for a guard on the team

I get that, but:
1) will the 43 percent MAAC guy be that guy in the Big East?; and
2) If you surround the non-shooting defensive whiz with two shooters, Soriano, and a jumping jack PF, can he be successful?

No. 2 is my strong preference.

So much energy and discussion on a subject RP is not going to seek our input.
And that’s what it’s all about!!

I’m team Let Rick Decide but I’d say 100% Posh could be a big part of a good team. That’s my opinion and I’d like to see it. But I’ll understand if it doesn’t. If we’re to believe Pitino is doing honest due diligence, then why wouldn’t he give every thought and possibility to keeping posh if he thinks it’s worth it? And if Posh decides not to go with it and stick with SJU then I’ll root extremely hard for him provided it’s not another BE team.

Facts over emotion

Posh was a sub par BE point guard this season
We don’t know him personally and only see him on TV for games
It appears he did not get a good recommendation
He was suspended this season

He should take his talents elsewhere
When was Posh suspended?

I think he's a junkyard dog, but weirdly enough a mentally fragile one.

As I said in another thread in response to a Monte post, I don't think he minds deferring at all, but he needs to be the one making the conscious decision to defer. If he's starting at the point and gives it up at midcourt to his combo guard manning the 2 (be it Clayton or someone else), he'll be fine out there.
