Mike Anderson - Former Coach

in the article...
"failure to create and support an environment that strongly encourages student-athletes who are in the men's basketball program to meet all university academic requirements" ....Did any kid have issues academically?

"failure to perform your duties and responsibilities in a manner that reflected positively on St. John's University ... in actions [that] brought serious discredit" to the school".... ?.....

"failure to appropriately supervise and communicate with your assistant coaches.".... Could be the DeMeo allegations?

Maybe the school got Curbelo and Pinzon in a room to highlight their takes lol...

Either way, joking aside... tough day for this news to drop...and not a Great look...

Embarassing.

Embarassing.
Per Kevin Connelly: "According to the termination letter obtained by ESPN, Anderson was fired for failure to create an support an environment that strongly encourages student-athletes who are in the men's basketball program to meet all university academic requirements".

Per Zach: "The St John's culture behind the scenes was not good, according to several sources. Two players were suspended. The coach routinely threw players under the bus after games".

I will tell you something I heard last weekend. Shanley had attended a practice back in February and was aghast with what he saw, total disrespect by players and coaching staff. Just not good it was then that he decided to make a change.

Having said that my guess is this will end in a settlement of X dollars. Almost always does.

It is a bit of a ploy for SJU to save a few dollars on the buyout but they do believe they have some evidence to justify the cause.

Again it will almost certainly end up being settled and Mike will get some money, probably not all of it but a good chunk.

This will not prevent the inevitable hiring of Rick.

Well the one thing I do know is a couple of assistants were pissed with what he let go on with Curbelo but I know nothing other than that
The argument may have merit, especially if a couple of assistants had issues with how they handled Curbelo.

Even we were scratching our heads after the first time he was suspended and showed up the post game presser in the reporters area eating popcorn.

That was embarrassing.

This may be a way to negotiate a better buyout, which was already in the works because the timing is odd, to say the least.

If I'm Rick Pitino, am I anxious to take a job where they just fired the prior coach and tried to weasel out of paying him claiming he was terminated for cause? Probably not. Anderson was a horrible coach, but firing him for cause (other than for him being terrible at coaching) is a joke.

Pitino may still take the job, but as expected, the assclowns in the St. John's administration are doing everything within their power to chase him away.

This is especially strange because wasnt the discussion on here that CMA was fired and be receiving the buyout which was essentially the remainder of his contract spread over a bunch of years?

Have to believe if done correctly... Shanley and Co. were transparent with Rick on what might come out with CMA...

Oh please UCONN hired Danny Hurley after firing Ollie for cause which many in the industry thought was a weak for cause justification.

Hurley didn't have an issue with it.
I really appreciate all the info you’ve provided and it’s obvious you have some solid connections. But can you really compare Hurley taking his first ever high major job to what pitino is looking to do?

Meh, this will be a story for a few hours then the Pitino announcement will drop and this will be mostly forgotten.

A couple years ago Kevin Willard's best player during his time at SHU sued the school and Kevin Willard for rushing him back from injury which he claims damaged his future earnings. It was a story for a day or two then it eventually fizzled out and ultimately had zero impact on Willard's recruiting and obviously didn't stop him from getting the Maryland job.

This story will disappear in a few hours.
