It almost feels like Posh is competing with Curbelo on making the splashy assist. He had six turnovers in one game before and another five tonight and that is not the Posh I remember from his first two years. Hopefully, this is just an aberration and he gets back to playing within himself.

Very funny to read this thread after coming home from the game. A lot of folks were jumpimg off the bridge (and the first half justified it). Tonight is what CMA told us to expect on day one, only the minutes were different. Tonight we got 20 minutes of hell and 20 minutes of what the hell.

PS--choice of Coors Light-ugly. As they say Coors Light is like sex in a canoe--its F***ing near water.

The crowd was absolutely rocking tonight, Cragg deserves all the credit and fruits of the new concession amenities. The buzz is slowly humming, let’s take care of business in Brooklyn and damnit that turkey will taste good.

Said it a week back, this is a different team from 6 months ago. Deeper, more versatile, talented and determined. On to Barclays.

Pinzon hurt again! It seems that since he has been here he has either been sick or injured! Frankly I’m tired of it! I would sit him and give AJ his minutes. He can’t defend he can’t shoot and he has glacier like speed! I wouldn’t doubt if he transfers after this season! It would upset me a bit!

Pinzon, a sophomore guard who starred at Long Island Lutheran, suffered a sprained right ankle in Thursday’s victory, according to Anderson. Pinzon, who was averaging 5.3 points over 14 minutes a game over St. John’s opening three contests, was helped off the court with 11:29 left in the first half, unable to put much weight on his foot. He later returned to the bench with his right shoe off and ankle wrapped and exited the court at halftime in a walking boot.

Give Pinzon a break. Yes the foot speed and ability to defend the perimeter has a long way to go. But there are plenty of other things about his game and potential to like. If he gets healthy he can definitely have a role as a scoring option off the bench. Wouldn’t mind seeing him not being asked to pressure the ball handler up the floor, either. Put him in spots where he can succeed. Because I think the offensive, shooting ability and size for the position gives you something useful.

It’s not the poor kid's fault he is hurt or gets sick. These are D-1 athletes when they get hurt or sick it’s devasting emotionally and career wise.

And I wasn’t directing that at you Knight.

The additions of jones, curbelo and storr make this the best team cma has had here by a mile. They are exciting and explosive.

This team has a legit shot at a big east crown and a sweet 16 run.

And if they all return w/ the addition of gardner, will open as the top seed in the big east next year.

Exciting time to be a johnnies fan. See you at the barclays!!

Just finished watching the game. The CYO offenses I saw in the 2 games I officiated tonight were light years ahead of our first half. What a tale of 2 halves. Phenomenal 2nd half. Soriano great all around game, Jones with a big half. Curbelo with a nice all-around game. Nice contributions from Storr and Mathis. Wusu? That's another story. On to Temple.

What is the status of Nyiwe? We need his length.
Do we? I love the kid but Stanley fills that defensive role, and Keita has good feet and is quick for a big man, he had a nice fast switch off today in one play and didn't get beat. I think we can handle it. It's Nyiwe's offense that gives him the edge over Stanley IMO but we can get by for now

Keita is nowhere near ready for primetime.
Yeah he has great foot speed and may become a plus shot blocker.
But he has been getting pushed around by low majors.
He has shown he doesn't yet have the strength to corral a contested rebound against low majors.
Nywie is important.

Wasn't' a fan of Cubero after first few games. I see now who he is and what he brings if he's going good. Tough, tough.
Storr is going to be a star (and pro).
Soriano has upped his game a lot and I think does well against the Big East bigs. Best true big man here in a looooonnnnngggg time.
Posh is Posh, I have no worries about him.
Jones is a revelation. He is much more dimensional than Champ was and more than adequately fills that spot. Explosive inside and out.
The supporting cast all have cogs to fill and so far seem to be settling in.
Overall, the second half shows (albeit against an inferior opponent) the potential. The first half scared the stuffing out of me.

I look forward to an exciting and maybe anxious (but ultimately successful) season.

The problem here is posters expectations of Pinzon. He’s been so overhyped by many that many still expect great things from him. The reality may be that for this level of completion, with his deficiencies, he may be no more then a role player at best getting limited minutes.

Through 4 games
Soriano-has been great. Kind of Reminds me of Shawnelle Scott but better rebounder. Again worried about how he will do against better more athletic bigs.

Jones-been better than I thought and had big expectations. Slight negative was thought was a little more willing passer but again he is far and away our best offensive option so…,

Mathis-worked on his shot and has played under control. Unless Storr ready to take leap and Anderson ready to let him Mathis may have to take bigger role on offense. Not sure how that will work.

Cubero-just have to live with the occasional sloppiness. Fun player who will occasionally drive you crazy. Of the 2 point guards actually has the better looking shot. I think ideally when ready Storr should start here with Curbero providing spark off bench as 6 man like he did at Illinois.

Posh-I love Posh. He has flaws but honestly as long as he plays the way he does he is fine. Doesn’t have bad touch inside the arc, simply not a good three point shooter and at this point shouldn’t take them.

Storr- future of the program. Hopefully Anderson realizes this and increased his minutes as season goes on.

Pinzon- I like his game when not trying to do to much. Unfortunately don’t want him to take even a minute from Storr time so….

Stanley- played really well against Nebraska and even made a free throw. Eventually I think will be a situational substitute when the kid comes back from the situation with his brother.

Wusu- feet firmly set has nice touch. Plays D and plays hard. 3 and D should be his role. First 3 games I felt he embraced that.
Simply put it is a low percentage basketball play when he drives to the basket. Results are turnover, missed layup, offensive foul or shot getting smashed back at him. Does not leave his feet on layup attempts. Literally doesn’t jump.

Anderson -no real complaints so far. Storr minutes have to increase as season goes on and HAS to make tournament.
