Homeland And All Things Maher

If there are any Downton Abbey fans, tonight at 9PM, HBO/HBO Max debuts The Gilded Age.  It is from Julian Fellows as was Downton but focuses on the late 1880's on with new money trying to become part of society.  Sort of an Upstairs/Downstairs in America

We loved Downton Abby. Will definitely check that out. Thx !

I'm not a big show watcher, but I finally did catch Ozark Seasons 1-3 over the summer.

My wife was shocked I binge watched the show with her. Basically Sopranos, Breaking Bad & Ozark are the only three series I've watched over 20+ years.

On Friday, we saw series final Season 4 episodes 1-7 just released  and  are now halfway through the new ones.  Think final 7 episodes will drop before year end.

I thought it was a good start but not the same without Axe. Hoping Dollar Bill and Maphee make appearances this season.

I was disappointed - wasn't sure if I was watching Billions or Green Acres.

For those with kids or grandkids, Lost In Space on Netflix is a very good, wholesome sci-fi adventure show with shockingly good special effects and sets.

If you haven't watched it yet, you will have to give it a few episodes.  Unlike Downton, which was about one family, The Gilded Age covers two families-one "old" money and one "new" money.  Each family has its own set of servants.  There are many characters, but Fellows has the key items of money, greed, business competition, ruthlessness, etc.  You've got Astors and Vanderbilts, a who's who on NY society.  Meryle Streep's daughter is the niece of one of the "old" families who is a major character who is a bit of a "modern" spirit.  It will take a few episodes to understand the various characters.

Just watched the Ray Donovan movie - OUTSTANDING!!!
If you liked the series, this movie is a must watch
Should be available on Showtime on Demand

Anyone want to offer opinion on this season of Billions? I'm enjoying it even without Damian Lewis although it would be even better if they brought back Monte.

Always been a fan of the show.  Surprisingly it’s still very good without Damian Lewis.

Lewis is a terrific actor that has had some great parts: Billions, Homeland, Band of Brothers.

Great episode of Billions last night. Featured a scene with John Calipari as a paid speaker for Prince's company. Speaking fee for Calapari $200,000.

They wanted me back. I had to pass. Told them I was too busy arguing with posters on a basketball message board

I had a hard time getting into Billions. The characters are all unlikeable. No one to root for.

And I really like Wall Street movies.  If you want a great movie about the 2008 real estate crash, check out "Margin Call" which has an incredible cast.

It's fast-paced and tense, taking place over the course of like 12 hours between the time a junior analyst realizes his firm is about to go belly up on its mortgage-backed securities to the time top management decides what to do with them.

The Documentary on HBO on Carl Icahn is excellent for anyone who remotely has an interest in finance

I just discovered Derry Girls on Netflix.

I’ve rarely laughed so hard.

And yes I needed to put the cc on to follow the northern Irish accents.

Yeah that show was hilarious.

Will Smith just walked up on stage at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock ! WOW !!!!

That’s because he exceeded the more than 40 minutes of hell the broadcast usually is.

It’s been 15 years, but I’m thoroughly enjoying rewatching Arrested Development on Netflix.

I forgot how good it was.
