Pitino won this miserable program the Big East. That alone deserves respect. RJ quit on us in the Arkansas game and Jackson is a bum. This is as good as it gets for SJU basketball.

We should remember that last year we had a All BE Player from Seton Hall , Kadary who Pitino wanted to change Kafary’a natural skills into being a PG too.
Which he really wasn’t but , had enough skills to do a better than credible job in kind of a hybrid role .
And , let’s never diminish RJ’s BE POY and All American contributions .
He’s difficult to replace . As was Kadary .

I would say that the league mvp, tournament mvp and team leading scorer
was another "thing".
Just to accurately comment on last year’s team .
Zuby , RJ, Wilcher Ayo we’re all holdovers from Pitino’s first team here. The team with Soriano and Detroit Piston to be , Daniss Jenkins . So they were entering their 2 nd year with Pitino .
They knew his regimen .
Added to last year’s team the notables were KR , All BE player and Scott and Smith
That team was a better team than this year’s edition . Until we see more , much more , we won’t equal last year’s level .
Zuby will need to be Season End BE Player of the Year , not just pre season BE POY. He’s capable of doing that .
Pitino should get him into the low post , not the high post . Rick did the same with Soriano out past the foul line . It wasn’t the best way to use Joel , in my opinion nor, is playing to Zuby’s best skills .
Putbacks , shots in the paint , shorter drives to the hoop, better positioned for Rebounding offensively .

1) Blind, not entirely unjustified, gratitude and allegiance to Pitino.
2) Best player blaming/shaming is a time honored SJ fanboy tradition.
If we could turn on Mullin...anyone is fair game.
Let’s blame Mullien !
Maybe he didn’t “quit” but he certainly didn’t follow the script or play well.

Maybe quitting was the wrong way to put it. But RJ played awful and it sucks that he had such a terrible end to an incredible season. What I should have said is RJ quit on Pitino for rightfully benching him. He made a massive mistake declaring for the draft and I'm convinced he doesn't declare if the end of his college career went differently.

Fact, Luis and every one else played horrible except Eijofor. Pitino was the only one who quit with his egocentric coaching move.
Unfortunately, Luis reverted to exactly the way he played when he played poorly in the two years he was here but him staying on the court was clearly the ONLY chance SJU had to win. Being non-competitive and scoreless, except for a meaningless “game already over” dunk, for the last 5 minutes proved that.
One last comment, and with all due respect, it is funny the “let’s move on” comments are made after people stand up for a stand up guy who has been vilified on this board to the point of months later being accused of quitting while the rest of the team, who all but one played horribly, walked away pretty much unscathed.
Posters don’t want to hear it, issue your request when the subject is brought up, not when people respond with a different point of view then yours.
