Has one of the biggest payrolls in college basketball. I am is his biggest fan but he has lost it. —
Can't agree with that.

As I posted the other day, IMO the issue is a combination of roster turnover in the modern era and his obsessive determination to have players do every single thing right.

When you don't have continuity and you have to teach a new group of players so many things from scratch every year it's hard and it delays maximum production.

If you're Kelvin Sampson and you're demanding 4 things, or you're McDermott and you just have to teach a system, then it's different. You teach the limited number of things and you get guys to execute those things and that's that. It's like Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh, sort of.

But if you're Pitino and there's a list of like 116 things and they all have to be done perfectly, roster turnover makes that very hard.

Sky is still falling, huh?

Happy to Sanon hitting a few 3’s. He and Sellers are going to be very important.

Count me as not concerned with where we are at. CRP is very clearly trying to figure out rotations. The players are very talented but how do they fit together? Lavin would have some nice analogies about that.

Speaking of rotations, the team defense is terrible, not even on the same planet as last year. That will get much better. This is going to be a very good team as it gets molded to what it should be. I’m happy to watch competitive basketball in November and enjoying the ride.

Tough loss we didn't show up second half! I still think we will be better come January like last year!
That won’t be good enough this year with such a weak Big East. We’re a 6 seed at best even if we finish second in conference with such a poor performance out of conference. If we finish anywhere lower than second in conference and we won’t even make the tournament.

We can compete. But when it's the last 8 minutes, things will not be all that different now or later. Mitchell, Sellers, Ian, or Darling are all fine solutions as a primary ball handler for different times of the game. Last 8 minutes? You need a guy. Last year, we had two -- Kadary and Deivon. This year, 0.
I'm gonna have to move like half of this thread to the PG Debate thread where I might have said a bunch of this stuff, not sure, can't remember

Here’s the problem: this squad cannot handle any team with real guard play. We should’ve signed Demary and given him the money—he could’ve been a poor man’s Kadary. I like Matt A a lot, but I’m not going to pretend everything is fine just because one of his buddies scolded me.
The reason we had good players last year is simple: Rick played against them in Year 1 and knew exactly who could compete. Right now, we’re a bubble team. I bought the hype, I dared to dream, but unless something changes, this group has no consistency.
By March maybe we luck into a favorable bracket, but as of today? We should’ve brought back Sim and Brady.

You would have come in handy at the Alamo, “we got these guys Colonel Bowie!” 😇

The biggest problem is that this was the damn litmus test. Yeah there’s Ole Miss at home and then Yukon but to me it’s almost irrelevant because in the back of our minds we’ll think about how we stacked up against these teams with big time lead guards.

On a positive it’s always nice to come on here after a loss and see a bunch of miserable sacks of sh%t venting just like me. Happy Thanksgiving gents!

Lost again to ranked team Arkansas, Michigan, Alabama, Iowa State, and Auburn. Five games in a raw. Pitino has to be responsible for this. St. John's should use those NIL money to support poor academic students. It's the time for Pitino to retire. Sorry.
