I read posts after games and think what the hell is wrong with some of you.
I came as a fan of Pitino, now you have me questioning him 🤣
I need to settle down and no posting during or directly after games!
So we’re not top 5 in country.. you know we’re going to get better.
Probably no chance at a 1 or 2 seed, but who will want to play us in the tournament.

But all of us including me in the heat of the moment sometimes should think twice before we say some things

I’ve seen 2 seeds lose in the 1st/2nd round several times in my life. WELL, I WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM A VETERAN OBSERVER OF THE GAME LIKE YOURSELF

There’s nothing worth responding to lol. When I make a point about how the crapshoot nature of the tournament makes it foolish to fully use that as a metric to determine how good/bad a team was, you responded with passive agressive shit like “REALLY? I DIDNT KNOW THAT!”

But the age jokes are really awesome. I’m 28 now but those jokes kicked ass in 2014. Glad to see you held onto the material.

Regrettably, I was not a member of this site back in 2014. So I unfortunately missed out on what would have been your teenage musings.

It's not about "coaching"......it's about getting the players you target when you have a billion dollar backer!!
The class is grossly overrated! The only money player signed was Bryce Hopkins who hadn't played in ages! Dillon Mitchell is obviously a role player. Ian Jackson would have been riding the bench at UNC. Sellers and Sanon are good offensive players but lack the physical and ball handling skills of high level shooting guards in addition to being defensively challenged.
THAT.....was the cream of our crop.

No offense to Dylan, but no real high quality point guard on the entire roster.
Then we continue to scratch the barrel with the rest of the new players except for the potential in Kelvin Odih.
My guess is we had little to no competition for Fotis, Casper, Imran, and Tamba.

Yes, we are lucky to have veterans like Zuby and Ayo but the promise that was for Lefteris seems to have faded with the additions of Odih, Sellers and Sanon.

Bottom line is that we are missing the Alpha point guards of last season and you don't remain long in the rankings without such players.

For the season not to take a deep dive into mediocrity our top six players need to get with the Pitino program as of yesterday. It's not encouraging looking at the faces of our players ....... especially those on the bench. Time for the "tri-captains" to call some players only meetings and hash things out. They cannot afford to lose to both Ole Miss and Kentucky or the fan base will start giving away a lot of tickets and NYC fans that support St. John's who are not alums will not buy MSG tickets. The coaches and the players must treat those games as NCAA advance or go home games.

Worries of guard play are valid. As well as concerns of roster fit and pieces being greater than its sum.

I think a lot of our issues defensively and on the boards relate to missing wing length in the form of an RJ or similar. Our guard/wings do not fit the mold. I think Coach Pitino looks at Sanon and sees the potential to play that 3. Size, length and athleticism fit the mold. So he’s trying to cram him into that role in hopes he develops outside of just a gunner. I think he looks at Jackson and is unsure of what he sees, but he’s certain he’s not a 3 or a 1 at the moment. but he’s certainly not a sure fire answer. Still believe in 18-25 minutes there.

For the front court crunch I’d like to see Pitino commit to 10 minutes of Mitchell as the actual designated pg. Find a zone that works for that and some other lineups and build around that added size, with rebounding and transition points. This roster can be so much better rebounding than it’s showed. This will free up more space for Hopkins and Zuby and more time for Prey. Our bigs have got to commit to running, that’s Zuby and Hopkins included, because our guard/wings most certainly are. But no rebound = no run.

Ayo needs 10+ consistent minutes all year.

Have we looked like a top 5 team so far? No sir 100% not. Have we looked like a team that can compete neck and neck with top teams? 100% yes.

Consistently put yourself in good chances and figure out what works best for your team and the potential is still there. Challenges acknowledged.

You're wrong. They didn't become anything. Deivon Smith was known as a lockdown defender before he ever arrived in Queens. Same with Scott. Your repetitive position of using last year's team to draw any comparions to this year's team is, quite frankly, just lazy.

As I just started, the DNA of this year's team is starkly different. Hoping that this year's team finds that same defensive intensity and grit that last year's squad is just pipe dreamish at best. Just watch the players and the eye test don't lie.

I was courtside for first three games in Bahamas last year. Anyone who says we were playing lock down defense in those games does not know ball. Smith was suspended. Team was completely out of sync. No one had defined role. Pitino molded the team and it gradually got better. Let’s hope he can do the same this year. Hey, we lost to Michigan by one. Should have beaten them. And they just proved they are by far the best team in country. Darling did not play v Alabama. If we had won both those games the picture would look vastly different. Pitino has earned time to work his magic.
