Yep. mjmaherjr exclusively. SG wasn’t a perceived weakness it was considered a strength so that’s my reasoning

With the level of talent at the 2 do you consider it a strength ? Because honestly I consider PG more of a strength at this point

I don't follow your reasoning. To me among Sanon, Sellers, and Jackson, even though they have all pretty much stunk so far, I am sure that at least a couple of them will get it and solidify the position. Plus I have Liotopoulos and Ayo for spot duty as needed while they're coming around.

At PG what I see is a huge hole at the starting position (at least if we are talking about a deep-run NCAA team) and a solid backup. And I don't see what the solution is to that.

Not to mention that you can make up SG production from other spots. It's hard to hide "no point guard" but Rick is clearly gonna try.

I recently read about “main character syndrome “ and I’m acutely aware of how fans come off when they post too much. I will be working on it.

But before I lay off the posts, I just wanted to ask if your concern is that the pg situation is a fatal flaw for an actual championship run, or a fatal flaw for a very good (sweet 16 type) season.

And I think, given the outlay of cash from boosters and supporters the past two seasons, that for those folks it’s a legitimate concern that I don’t want to discount. I said it in another post but I think there’s the “thrilled we are good” crowd, and the “damnit this team won’t contend for a title” crowd. And it’s a real divide on the board.

I think Lefty is going to be more important to us than many realize. He can shoot and the majority of the team are question marks there. He's played in some crazy INTL environment's and performed well. I thought he was going to drill all 3 of those FT's but it didn't happen. My hope is happening now will change his mindset similar to Zuby and Baylor which has made Zuby of the most trusted FT shooters we have.

If I read you right, you are saying that Dylan (point guard) has been the best of the guards over the first two games which I don't disagree with although I missed the Towson game. Having said that, I am very comfortable with some combination of Sanon, Sellers & Jackson at the 2 over the long haul.

I just wish he and Darling were sprinting in sand with ankle and waist weights and a parachute all summer.

I think they are both heady players but bodies are a step behind heads.

Based on recruiting I was expecting growing pains at PG and I’m relatively surprised with the guy you told to go back to Idaho

SG I was expecting lockdown can’t miss. I don’t feel that way now although Sanon I feel is star in making eventually
Era where kids can't be counted on to stick around + Coach who has a finite amount of years (and patience) left = No fear about having supposed best recruit and local guy coming off the bench.

I know am going to get hammered for saying this, but I would make Lefty our starting point guard. He has an abundance of international experience, he sees the floor well, he’s a heady player, passes well, has good size at 6’5 and can knock down a shot. He’s not overmatched out there either. Maybe not as quick as we would like but he can make up for that with basketball IQ, anticipation, a little help defense etc. I think he’s our best option right now. Is it perfect , of course not, I still think out of all our options he gives us the best chance to succeed. It also allows Sellers to play off the ball and play to his strength. Darling as a back up is fine.

I got your back here Geno. I would let Lefty and Darling both play PG.

Yeah but I've seen too many slow players beat us for years. Game planning around those 'weaknesses' can do wonders.
They are as fast and quick as Cadeau. And Cadeau was able to distribute the ball well and play good defense.
Cadeau also got the better when matched up with Ian. If Ian had a bum ankle then I understand.
Lefty can shoot, drive and distribute. I’m very high on him.
