NBA

Maybe stretching to put this in this thread but our long time rival Kalkbrenner started and had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets last night. Hornets will be an interesting team to watch for us Carolinians as they have Kalk, McNeely & Knueppel as rookies.
And, to no one’s surprise, went 7-7 from the field lol

Once the pro leagues started taking advertising from gambling sites, the toothpaste was squeezed out of the bottle. There is no turning back.

Billups and Rozier are probably already talking to the feds giving up others. The NBA looks bad because they investigated Rozier earlier and found nothing.

For Billups, what if he was in deep gambling debt with the mob and as a method of payment rigged games. Just think of how much influence a coach has on the outcome of a game and prop bets.

Let’s have it. It is extremely hard to fathom Ohtani had no idea about his translator’s gambling. Would not be a surprised if he took the blame and serves time, and then is taken care of handsomely when he gets out.

College sports are walking a tightrope now, because they are in bed with gambling too.

Big, ugly freaking mess.

Remind me how society benefits from expanded sport betting and gaming in general? Remind me how it is good for society to expose our kids and others to this? Oh yeah, government can tax it and waste more money (psssst...it won't reduce taxes). This is a ticking timebomb...
Have seen this blight ruin many guys and families I knew well. A tax revenue source, average Joes be damned.

Love the toothpaste analogy.
I think Ohtani will wind up as the 21st century Pete Rose. Except Rose was strictly gambling, Ohtani has expanded to real estate.

Feel like I am taking crazy pills every time I sit down to watch a game, and every commercial is LeBron or some other athlete telling me to download an app to gamble. It is so ass backwards. Something has to be done
Something is being done - a lot of people are on this particular gravy train and will ride it until it goes off the rails.

Throw in pervasive porn and legal weed, and what do you get?
