2025-2026 Schedule

Only chance would be on campus like Butler a few years ago since Phish has MSG every NYE
what's the difference between Phish fans and drunk St Johns fans ? St Johns fans aren't high for a week after the event

We already planned to play them and all parties had the date available so why not? It gets us another game at MSG.
MSG is hard to get a date with, so I’d prefer to make it either a conference opponent or make it really worth our while.

Yes it is hard to get MAG dates hence my point. Once you get the MSG dates, you still have to see what teams you have on your scheduled are available for those dates. The date is earlier than when Conference play begins so that’s out and the teams you are planning to play must also be available. Iona was going to an early December game and was available. They have a full packed schedule, they weren’t going to get the date and the shop around for another opponent not on the scheduled at late date and time.

While I of course course would love to play the "Dukes" of college bball.... I'll certainly take Iona at MSG.... and in reality... MSG will be more packed for Iona than if we had DePaul there....

Sure, that's fair. I'm speaking purely from conjecture. But the bolded is still a part of it. Playing Iona is fine, I actually prefer those local teams (even if slightly worse) than a random team in the MAAC or something.

But why not see who else (and maybe they did!) we can play at that slot. There's plenty of very good OOC games that day, and the MSG part of it has to be attractive to teams.

Iona @ MSG just sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest. Thankfully, we're past the point of having to think what opposing teams will provide, in terms of fans. Just would've been a bit more fun/better if we had one more high-major taking up that slot.

According to Zach B., St. John’s and MSG are talking about a new contract where we would be partners in lieu of the current situation where we are renters of MSG.

My personal take is I am delighted that we are in a position of strength thanks to last season and the amazing job of our fan base buying full season and the MSG ticket plans. We should be able to negotiate better terms.

That is correct. I don't have the numbers in front of me right now but we really needed to draw x amount of fans to break even, let alone make a profit. And we didn't make that threshold a lot in the past. We are obviously in a better position currently but MSG will always have the upper hand so we need to continue the momentum.
