New York Mets 2025 Season

Not much left to say, it is a team completely devoid of clutch hitting and the ability to play anything resembling situational offense. Been a below .500 team for 3+ months and just wasting some very impressive young pitching. Eight games by guys with no major league appearances and not one bad outing. Meanwhile the veterans continue to play like they pretty much just want to go home.
 
This team just doesn’t have heart. Did letting Iglesias go really screw the chemistry up that bad? Could have kept Quintana over Montas. At this point I only want them in the playoffs to give these kids a start in a playoff game.
 
Maybe the most frustrating Mets team I have ever seen. No heart, no killer instinct. That should have put this playoff chase to bed already. They really are a true .500 team. Good for a few games, then terrible for a few.
 
So many mistakes. Mendoza time, why pinch hit Acuna leaving Mauricio to pinch run? You couldn’t get a worse read then he got on the Vientos double. Acuna’s there and the game is tied. Ball right in front of him and he can’t see it was clearly over the outfielders head? Regardless, he should have been almost to second because if it was caught the fielder is going away from the infield and he would have been easily able to get back to first. One of the little things the Mets don’t do that loses games.
Mendoza just continues to make the wrong decisions.
Not sure what they saw in Mullins but he is no upgrade from Taylor. Ditto Alvarez vs. Torrens. Between Mauricio, McNeil and Alvarez, microcosm of Mets play since the great start.

With 18 games left I cant see them winning more than half of them and that is starting to feel optimistic. Not sure that will be enough to get in the playoffs as several teams are getting closer. It is the opposite of last year but we have been bad for far longer than we were to start last season.
 
This season falls on Stearns. Good old Harvard rowing up the Charles has hit a sandbar. This guy got way too high on himself. I’m now expecting him to show up at the closing press conference with a Jewish Turtleneck. I get it maybe one day Zach Efron could play him in a movie but this team sucks. I hope Cohen is more John Wayne than Nathan Lane!

If it wasn’t for Stearns, we’d be five games out of the wild card
 
Team has officially made me numb. Felt it after losing the Cincy series. Hard to be upset. They look like they hate each other out there. Vientos error and Soto steal seemed to reveal some fissures and frustrations.

I also understand they’re trying to portray confidence and stability by insisting they’ll make the playoffs, but their play on the field shows its arrogance. That may doom them the most in the end.

I can literally believe anything with this team. Lose WC by three games or win World Series. Unfortunately, this new system has made it all about getting hot at the right time.

Manaea and Senga killed us this year. Offense way too up and down, aside from a couple guys. We need to improve the defense first and foremost.

if their body language looked like a team that wanted to play together, and believed they could go on a run, I would be a lot more interested in this final month of the season.

But every game it just seems like a team that is ready for the offseason. It is a shame. But hey, as I have been saying for months now, every day we wake up in a playoff spot, gotta dust ourselves off and try to win the next one i guess
