Music And All Things BrookJersey (Moran)

And here is the version of Baby's in Black I was thinking of. It's not three part harmony, only Paul & John but man do they sound good and just an example of how good they were despite the fan madness.

I have always felt the real breakup of The Beatles had its genesis in the end of their ability to perform live. They obviously honed their chops in Hamburg and from all reports, were just incredible, but obviously it became impossible to hear them once Beatlemania took root. The incredible harmonizing here is a true joy to listen to.
There is a YouTube short of George Harrison watching and listening to this years later and his joy at the memory is front and center.

Magic.

Two things hit me; first, maybe a “beginning of the end” with the background crowd noise and second, the singing so screams the influence The Everly Brothers had on their harmonies. Hate to repeat myself but GREAT again.
Thanks for posting both of those!!

And I always thought the Everly Brothers always had the sweetest harmonies I'd ever heard. People sometimes say family members' harmonies are built into the genes, maybe in the case of the Beatles all being from the same area in Liverpool, that has something to do with their great non-family member harmonies. Hey, Simon and Garfunkel were both from Queens, NY :) [ Edit: I posted this BEFORE I saw Logen's comment about the Everly Brothers]

My 2 cousins that were brothers and who both sang professionally harmonized beautifully Everly Brothers songs (especially All I Have to Do Is Dream).

Here is another duet, that harmonize beautifully and more current.

Never heard of them, but will be checking them out for sure. Loved the harmony and the guy playing lead was really good.
Both playing, I believe, old acoustics, I am pretty sure the lead was playing a Martin from the 50’s because a buddy of mine plays one that looks pretty identical.
For me, one of the joys of music threads is seeing and hearing unfamiliar artists. Thanks for posting!!

Had not heard of either until seeing them open up for Mary Chaplin Carpenter at Wolf Trap. Added bonus, they are a riot, very funny, interacting with the audience.

And love MCC I saw her in NJ on a double bill with the Mavericks, I think Raol Malo was still in the group.

MCC was spectacular.

Agree we saw her at the MCCarter theater in Princeton 25 years ago and again in Charlotte about 10-11 years ago. Very good performer I have not heard of her putting out any new music for a number of years though. She is playing in Charlotte in October with Brandi Clark, was considering going if our schedule allows.
