TBT Update

Maybe I am just a traditionalist, but I don't like adding gimmicks to the game. Some are always trying to reinvent the wheel.

I tend to agree but I think the tourney was just trying to avoid the usual end of game foul fests especially with a lower level of talent that might not know the difference between a hard foul and a stupid foul. Last thing they wanted was for the games to erupt into riots afters someone got clocked.

Edit: Sorry Hardy. Didn't see your post before I did this one.

Elam ending should be adopted at all levels of hoops, IMO. There's no tangible reason for it not to be.

Yes, it's a gimmick, but it's one that works.

The only thing I would do differently is that I would play out the full game (40 minutes for college, 48 for NBA), then go to Elam ending.

Then why play the regular way at all? What is there to gain if you are just going to throw all that out for a gimmick ending. Just play the first team to 100 wins.

My take on the Elam ending is 🤮

Got to do something to end late game foul fests and last 2 minutes taking a half hour. Maybe make non shooting fouls in last two minutes of a game one foul shot and retain possession or SOMETHING. The way a lot of games end now is a GIMMICK as committing fouls should not help the team committing them on purpose.

So simple to solve without gimmicks, set a limit of fouls at the end of games or fourth quarters and then award the fouled team foul shots and the ball.
Or better yet, just enforce the intentional foul rule already in existence.

Give them 3 to make 2. The foul fest gives them a chance to win the game without resorting to a gimmick. Go to that gimmick and I’m probably out.

Unfortunately DJ’s team lost in the quarterfinals. He finished with 10pts and 8reb.

Marcellus Earlington’s team plays tonight.
