Yankees 2025 Season

What a comeback. Deader than dead down 5-0 in the 8th. Stanton with the 2 run shot to get us back in it. Great at bats in the 9th despite the atrocious home plate umpire. Wells clutch.
Devin Williams shutting down the M’s in the 10th.
Peraza using a torpedo bat to bunt was hilarious. The Captain wins it with a shallow sac fly, with a great slide by Volpe, whose hand eye coordination was just a bit quicker than Raleigh’s.



 
Great comeback win. Suoer sweep. But lucky to win.

DFA Peraza before he plays another game for the Yanks. He is horrible.

Happy for Wells. He got beat up tonight.

Yanks almost lost this game in the first inning, allowing Woo to settle in for 7 + innings.

This staff continues to allow hitters who have success against the Yankees to continue to do so. Tonight it was Polanco. The advance scouting is pathetic.

Really? 1978 - 1996 between WS wins 1981 being our only WS appearances 1981 - 1995 between playoff appearances (asterisk less teams made the playoffs). A whole lot of overall bad baseball between 1982 and 1994.

Let’s not forget what would have been probably the worst trade of his regime, the proposed trade of Mariano Rivera for Felix Fermin at the end of spring training in 1996 because they were worried that Derek Jeter couldn’t cut it and Tony Fernandez (who was the incumbent SS who they had moved to 2B) broke his elbow (missed the entire season).

I am no fan of Cashman (too much reliance on analytics that they tend to use wrong, complacency throughout organization causing lack of accountability, too lax of attitude during spring training and preparing for the season, over indulgence on some prospects while burying others, lack of sustain development of young players, always depending on mid season trades to fix flaws you knew you had coming into spring training and the list can go on).

It’s hard to get on Hal considering his payroll is consistently in the top three or four in the game. You don’t do that if you are not trying to win. The problem is that payroll allocation and that falls on Cashman.

The game is different than when Feorge was in charge. When was the last time time we had repeat WS champions?

That would be the 1998 - 2000 (should have been the 2001Yankees. Yes George was still the owner and active but those teams were built by GMs (Michaels, Watson and Cashman) based on player development (Williams, Petttite, Rivera, Jeter, Leyritz), smart trades before and during the season for key players and in some cases key reserves who came up big (Martinez, Wells, Clements,O’Neil, Cone, Fielder, Hayes, Vizcanio, Wettland, Curtis, Harrison) free agents (Key, Gooden, Boggs) and the occasional flash in the pen who came up big (Spencer, Ledee).

That is what is missing and Cashman has not been able to duplicate.
 
So your point being what? That the Yankees run under the leadership of Cashman was better than that of George's run? When was the last time the Yankees went more than a decade without winning a WS?

1978 - 1996......... Prime George with some truly awful teams in between. Yanks haven't had a losing season in 33 years nor a top ten draft pick since Jeter.
 
Former St. John's S.I.D. Mark Fratto (now the in-arena voice of the Washington Wizards) will be handling P.A. duties at the Stadium this weekend.

Paul Olden is missing the series, due to a family wedding.

Excellent defense from the Captain.

15 hits and 6 for 13 with RISP make for an easy and dominant win. Even DFA Peraza had a couple of hits.

If only Judge can get going at the plate!! 😃

See my post as the answer is there, but I will repeat it, the Yankees did not win a World Series from 1978 - 1996 almost two decades. George was the owner.

Some Yankee fans lament the lack of George but forget the dark times under him. That is my point.

Agree. Think the difference is that with George he would bitch moan and criticize the goings on just like the fans did making it feel like he was one of them. Boone and Cashman and silent Hal make it seem like everything is hunky dory.
