If we could swing a Duran trade it could transform this team.
The Catcher was doing a good job “framing”. That’s how you knew they weren’t close. Sure looks like “get away” day calls for that Ump. I also think Mendoza bitching pissed the guy off. Credit Williams for going even lower on strikeout pitch.

Apparently, he got promoted to Syracuse 3 weeks ago. I never heard of him. Throws hard. Flamethrower in fact. 24 years old.

His last 28 days.. .314 avg/.456 OBP/.588 SLG. = 1.044 OPS. His plate discipline seems to be pretty outstanding for his age. 17 walks to 15 strikeouts in 24 games, especially impressive since his first eight games had 7 strikeouts to 2 walks.
Good to see Sproat starting to turn it around a little bit at Syracuse. His ERA is still at 5.00 and his WHIP is high at 1.40. His goal should be getting both down in the closing months of the season. Part of the good news is the increase in K’s in those last two starts 6 and 8 respectively. Swing and miss stuff appears to be ticking up a bit.
Peña is just a baby at 17. Amazing to have him compete so effectively with guys who are 2 or 3 years older. 17? He should be a Junior in High School.
Santucci is a lefty. Nice progress for him. Usually take a little longer to command his stuff. Almost time to see a couple of starts at Binghamton.

Ryan Clifford has been putting up some big power #s lately...weird player. Very streaky with his power and seems to start very slow each year.

Might be time to give Marky Mark the Alvarez treatment. Maybe it will help. Maybe the sophomore jinx is real. He looks NOTHING like the 2024 Vientos.
