Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

Big supporter of the Johnnies despite questionable end to his tenure. Class act.
A friend spoke with Lav hours after he got the bad news and he was disappointed naturally, but not bitter. My friend noted Lav indicated the SJU decision makers felt they wanted to bring in someone who could enable the program to compete for a national title. I certainly understand Lav’s weaknesses, but imo the under the radar process during the season to replace him was not laudable and the results speak for themselves.

Oh well, on to truly competing for a national title. 🤞

Lavin Looks great ! Happy for him.
Besides Coach Looie, Coach Lav was routinely seen on campus. I got the sense that he truly cared about his players. I also felt that he was always genuine about his feelings toward the team and the University.
And he bravely fought and conquered a serious medical issue without complaint.
Blessings Coach.
Thanks for sharing Panther. Very cool.

I also had a chance to meet up with Coach Dunlap and his family while out here. LaJolla is a beautiful place, He is coaching at Colorado Mesa a D2 school. Sean Evans was one of his assistants last season. Sean is now At Queens University in Charlotte a D1 school in the Atlantic Sun conference.IMG_5836.png

I need to get out to San Diego. One of the few cities in the United States that has the weather I like all year long.

Went for a week trip to San Diego and Frisco right after I retired in 2017. I’d been once to SD on business but my wife had never been. Just a great city, we even caught a Padres afternoon game which was a treat.
My oldest daughter and her family is out there now celebrating her mother in laws 70th birthday. She is pregnant with our third grandchild and we are waiting to hear the results of their gender reveal cupcake thing today lol.
You’d love San Diego Andrew - great weather and even better seafood.

That’s so cool. If I recall correctly, Sean was one of the last guys to come around to Dunlaps “tough love” approach. When it clicked it was a huge boost for that squad. Duke remembers. Awesome to see that relationship come full circle.

Bill - congratulations! I have been to San Diego a few times but not in many years. My dads first cousin lived there for many years.
