Big supporter of the Johnnies despite questionable end to his tenure. Class act.
A friend spoke with Lav hours after he got the bad news and he was disappointed naturally, but not bitter. My friend noted Lav indicated the SJU decision makers felt they wanted to bring in someone who could enable the program to compete for a national title. I certainly understand Lav’s weaknesses, but imo the under the radar process during the season to replace him was not laudable and the results speak for themselves.
Oh well, on to truly competing for a national title.
No Phil is still playing overseas. He was out there working out.
Besides Coach Looie, Coach Lav was routinely seen on campus. I got the sense that he truly cared about his players. I also felt that he was always genuine about his feelings toward the team and the University.
And he bravely fought and conquered a serious medical issue without complaint.
