Around College Basketball 25-26

Gambling rules.

Dumbest Shit I have ever heard in my life. This will definitely lead to games being fixed. If a student/athlete is in the hole from betting on professional sports, what's to stop him/her from betting on their own team?

Now that college athletes are getting NIL money, they are allowing them to bet, GTFOH. I really would like to know which ignoramus came up with this idea.

“Big Action” persuades beyond reproach members of the NCAA to understand there’s no harm in gambling, all the cool kids are doing it.
NCAA members see the light and in their infinite wisdom decide it’s totally acceptable for teenagers/young adults to spend their hard earned cash on whatever type of entertainment they choose.
“Big Action” profits go up, up, and away!
The wiser than everyone else NCAA members get to buy summer homes.
Student athletes are right back where they started.

Of course, we all already know this…

Amen Panther. Introducing a gambling option to students is ridiculous. If anything, they should mandate that any student athlete should have to take financial management classes and have mandatory meetings with a financial advisor who has been certified by the school/NCAA.

Honestly this is missing piece in the entire education system.

How its relevant to us: "Additionally, this change will allow big in-season tournaments — like the NIL-incentivized Players Era Festival — to be able to schedule three- or four-game MTEs. Players Era will be staged for a second time this November, increasing to 18 teams, and is hoping to balloon to a 32-team mega event starting in 2026."

The cat is out of the bag, and everything in college basketball (and all college sport) revolves wand will revolve around money. As society devolves, so do all its institutions. Just sayin.

ignoramus, is the perfect word, Panther.

Expanding one game is not enough. There is enough cheddar to spread around now. Atleast go to 35 so we can get our conference challenges back with the big boys.
Needs to go to 40 soon or football will continue to throw basketball around. Football is playing more than 3/4’s of an NFL season so basketball needs get to half of an NBA season.

I'd be a little nervous if a 40 game regular season + expanded tournament water downs the product. Games just won't matter nearly as much.

But I do think with legitimate in-season tournaments with NIL prizes, historic rivalries revived, etc., you can figure that out.
It will only be watered down for teams that overload with buy games.
