Music And All Things BrookJersey (Moran)

This song and this album up there with my All Time favorites, John Prine was a supremely talented songwriter, just ask Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett, Gordan Lightfoot, they all agreed.

Surprised I hadn’t posted this, my absolute favorite love song! Shows Prine’s great ability to write humorous lyrics with the most poignant of messages. With the great Iris DeMent.

Absolute gem from top-form Prine, another great tongue in cheek humorous one is the classic Dear Abby...

Ditto on “Dear Abby”!
As for Dylan, he was a huge fan of Prine’s, I saw him sit in with Prine once at The Bitter End, played the harmonica and backing vocals on 3 or 4 songs; I believe it was shortly after the release of Prine’s first album, “if my memory serves me well”.

Could not resist adding this; from the same live session “In Spite of Ourselves is from; I have read Dylan considered this an example of great songwriting. Different version than the recorded one, which prominently features an organ. It is on the “Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings” album
