That’s fair but I guess he saw another big put in the equation and figured those will eat into total minutes available between all.I actually don't see Vince's minutes so closely tied to Mitchell.

Have to assume if Maker knew Vince was going to transfer, he would have stayed. Think he could have filled the role we will need this upcoming year from our back up center.Vince came up huge against Creighton, but his moments were few and far between. He's a huge guy with no rebounding skills. Both Mitchell and Prey are better players.
No intel or sources but he was teammates with Imran
I suspect what he saw was the combination of Zuby, Bryce, Prey and Mitchell taking the overwhelming majority of minutes at the 4/5 which is not an unreasonable assumption.I like Vince. He needed a lot of work. Was hoping with another year working with Rick he’d improve.
Here’s the thing. If he left because he was challenged to earn his minutes then he’s not the guy. Zuby is clearly #1 option. After that? Hard to see just Mitchell taking his minutes. Seems to me like any good Coach RP said the opportunity is there take it or leave it. Kid saw a place elsewhere and he left. Okay but if that’s the scenario I don’t think US or Rick should be upset. He’s not the guy.
Agreed. But that is assuming everyone is healthy for the year. As we know, Bryce had a serious knee injury and hasn’t played much ball for a long time so all the insurance we can gather, the better in my eyes.I suspect what he saw was the combination of Zuby, Bryce, Prey and Mitchell taking the overwhelming majority of minutes at the 4/5 which is not an unreasonable assumption.
He was going to get 30 seconds a game if we stay healthy. Would have been limited to guarding an inbounds play at the end of the first half or trying to catch a lob with time dwindling before halftime.I suspect what he saw was the combination of Zuby, Bryce, Prey and Mitchell taking the overwhelming majority of minutes at the 4/5 which is not an unreasonable assumption.
Sure but can’t blame Vince for not banking on injuries to get PT.Agreed. But that is assuming everyone is healthy for the year. As we know, Bryce had a serious knee injury and hasn’t played much ball for a long time so all the insurance we can gather, the better in my eyes.
I like Prey a lot and think he will be a very important part of our success in the upcoming years. The underestimating of Ruben Prey amazes me. He's going to be fine to very good as a backup center for 10-12 minutes per game. Also priming him for a much bigger role the following year. Vince would've interfered with that development.
Get us this guy! Coach had to see him play if he was teammates Imran
Thanks for the clarificationHe and Imran were not teammates.
Imran played on one of Reggiana's junior teams but may have been called up briefly.
Momo Faye is a member of the senior team that competes in the A Division and is a legit young center in Italy.
I doubt that the senior team "loans" him out as they need him in order to be competitive in their league play.
I'm not sure he would even play, or want to play, on a college level.
He was definitely teammates with him. The Imran articles have him talking about his teammates Cassius Winston's impression on him about going to college/doing it with Rick, and Dave's pod also mentioned Kenneth Faried. I don't know enough intricacies with Euro basketball, but I'd presume he's practicing with them more than plenty for Imran and Mo to have a relationship. He and Imran were not teammates.

I get Italian basketball from Italy on my "embellished" Firestick. I've seen all the Italian first division teams. Imran was not a player who got minutes in those games while Momo is a rising star.He was definitely teammates with him. On ESPN's big board, Faye was #61. For context, that was six ahead of RJ. I have no idea what his interest is in college or his eligibility. Do think he'd want more guaranteed minutes, but who knows. We did get Prey last year.
I didn’t mean to imply that Imran is on his level as a basketball player, especially since I don’t watch any European basketball.I get Italian basketball from Italy on my "embellished" Firestick. The youth and senior teams have scrimmages but they play at a lower level.
Imran was called up to the senior squad ONCE this season but never got in the game against my NAPOLI team.
That's like saying the players on the Westchester Knicks are teammates with guys like Brunson, etc. If they called up due to an injury....they are short term teammates.
I never said he didn't know the senior players.......but he is just not talented enough to play (or get minutes) with Momo.
Faye declared for the NBA draft last year also and decided to return to Italy.I didn’t mean to imply that Imran is on his level as a basketball player, especially since I don’t watch any European basketball.
I mentioned it moreso because there’s a preexisting relationship that maybe st johns would try to leverage. They were also teammates in a summer competition where he did play alongside plenty.
