Welcome to St. John's, Oziyah Sellers!

And its official, per Zach:
St. John's has made Oziyah Sellers signing official.

Rick Pitino: "We are super excited to have Oziyah in our program. Not only does he bring great experience and tremendous outside shooting but his workout on his visit was incredible. Oziyah has terrific size and an unbelievable attitude. He's a great addition for Johnnies Basketball this season."

Great pickup. To be honest, I don't care if Jackson signs or not. We now need Mitchell (or someone Mitchell-like) a Point Guard like DJ Wagner or similar and we are a top 10 team who can dream of a final four. As it stands now, without Mitchell and a PG we are fringe top 25. Of course, the building is not complete and can change in a moment. I am still concerned a bit because the store is closing soon!
Speak for yourself. Ian Jackson is a stud.

Bill, you speak the truth! I would love to have Ian, I'm just saying that for team balance I think it is more important to have Mitchell if it was a choice that had to be made. I do want both though as I am greedy!
Hear you, but Jackson is on different level on offensive side of the ball. With the right coaching (not Hubert Davis) and steady minutes, Action Jackson can be a Big East First Team performer next year.

“Going into my senior year, I wanted to play in the biggest market possible and just hearing Pitino’s plans for me going into the season, it kind of felt like a no-brainer,” Sellers said. “Obviously I’ve been on the west coast my whole life, so making that move was a big move for me, but it was something I trusted and was fully confident with.

“They had a big need for 3-point shooters, and just showing me their offense and plays they run are things I feel I would fit well into. They do a lot of ball screens as well. I feel like that’s something that can take my game to another level.”

“A veteran high level shooter,” a college coach familiar with Sellers told The Post. “Catch and shoot, he can put it on the floor, one or two bounces. Easy 40 [percent shooter from 3], especially with good players.”

From the article, thanks for the assist Vince! Having him on the team seemed to make a big difference here. Also, the world’s most famous arena still a huge asset for us (especially for kids who are outside of the area):

The highlight of the trip was touring Madison Square Garden. He had never played at MSG or set foot inside the building before.

“That arena is just crazy,” Sellers said. “Just walking into it, you can feel all the history. It’s kind of every kid’s dream to play in there. It was amazing.”

the optics on TV of a sold out MSG in February and March also helps

One thing I've noticed about our commitments under the Pitino regime is how professional they are handled. They space them out so each recruit has their own day, no "verbal" soft commitments, official signings are announced right away, and we get quotes from the player and coach immediately in the press. Nice to have adults running things and a good thing to keep in mind when we start to panic with the "lack" of action, these guys know what they're doing.

We can put together an MSG hype video that would just be ridiculous. Mix in the history of the building: Ali-Frazier "Fight of the Century", UFC 205 with McGregor winning two belts, the Knicks and Rangers winning....with our biggest moments and insane crowd reactions from the Hardy Pitt game, winning the Big East, etc. Throw in quotes from MJ, Kobe, and others talking about it.
