Mike Repole Piece

and with Grande's 2nd place effort in todays Wood Memorial Stakes, Repole has another Kentucky Derby entrant! The horse got a ridiculously poor ride from his fill in jockey, ran 4-5 wide in the first turn then was taken 4 wide the last turn costing him the win. Not to fear, Johnny V will be on Grande in the Derby.

That was a terrible ride and Rodriguez is a pretty good horse. Journalism who won the Santa Anita today looks like a beast.

At this point in time , Robbie's son is AT LEAST as good a jock as Johnny V. I rewatched the race. What's wrong with the ride? Sometimes you can't save ground. It was a good on to Kentucky clear second. Mike and his daughter didn't seem to mind it.

Gotta love it... The hate is great. Some loathe the reality of small, private (Catholic) universities that are nationally relevant.

I happen to love it.

Boosters are just going to have to drop more bags... They will have to dig deeper and contribute more NIL to the hoops programs. "Easy breezy lemon squeezy."

After yesterday's Kentucky Derby prep races at Keeneland, Grande has dropped down to 19th place and would be out of the 20 horse field as there are two auto bids entered. Repole Stables needs to have a horse with more points above him drop out or Grande will probably race in the Preakness or maybe the Peter Pan at AQU next

The trainer of Owen Almighty, one of the Derby qualifiers from the Blue Grass, said it is very unlikely he will go in the Derby so hopefully that gets Grande in.

There are three auto bids now. Two from Dubai and one from Japan. Only one of those horse has committed as of this morning. If the other two don't commit they could award them to other horses in those countries but most likely give them to the next American based horses in the point system. Which is Flying Mohawk and then Grande.

Like NC Johnnie said there is a good chance a couple of others drop out as well(Remember Rich Strike). If they don't get Grande in I would like to see a Peter Pan prep for the Belmont.

What’s the story on Auburn’s Mascot ?

I thought it was a Tiger ? How does War Eagle get into the mix ?

I’m sure it’s a interesting story ..
From Wiki

War Eagle is a battle cry, yell, or motto of Auburn University and supporters of Auburn University sports teams. War Eagle is a greeting or salutation among the Auburn Family (e.g., students, alumni, fans). It is also the title of the university's fight song and the name of the university's golden eagle.

The widespread use of "War Eagle" by Auburn devotees has often led to outside confusion as to Auburn's official mascot. However, the official mascot of Auburn University is Aubie the Tiger, and all Auburn athletic teams are nicknamed the Tigers. Auburn has never referred to any of its athletic teams as the "Eagles" or "War Eagles." The university's official response to the confusion between the Tigers mascot and the War Eagle battle cry is, "We are the Tigers who say 'War Eagle.'"

Thank you for the information about Auburn and the confusion that exists between the Tiger Mascot and the War Eagle .

I wonder if they explain that to their Recruits .

As for Grande , it doesn’t seem like he’s the strongest horse that Repole Stables usually enters into the Derby .

But , I know little about this Year’s horses . Time will tell .
