Interesting idea as we always talk about BE success

Sports Business Journal 4/8/25

Tim Pernetti hasn’t exactly shied away from being different.

He’s openly discussed private equity and conference naming rights. It’s only a month ago his league also instituted a measure requiring schools to put at least $10 million total toward revenue sharing with athletes by 2027-28 should the House settlement receive approval.

Pernetti, who’s still only been in the AAC commissioner role since June, added another fascinating feather in his cap when the league’s ADs unanimously approved a new model that will see schools receive the full value of the NCAA tournament units they earn in a given postseason via the following year’s conference distribution, rather than divide them among the conference.

“What I proposed to the membership is, let’s reward the programs that are investing and earning the units,” Pernetti said. “It sends a better message that whoever earned it on everyone’s behalf gets some benefit for it. ... It’s a proper way to reward programs that are investing and performing.”

If Karaban returns w talented returnees, our games w UConn will be media magnets for a lot of reasons; Rick v Hurley, prime BE title contenders, ranked squads and rabid fan bases who dislike each other lol. I love these games. Sell out MSG w sea of red fans!

Could be two teams in the top five...

I feel bad for Sha, he seems to be a really good coach that isn’t getting any support
If true, yes I feel for Sha (to a degree), although I think he's been prematurely anointed as a "really good coach". I think he's a solid young coach with upside, but lives off that SPU run (which was historic). Otherwise he didn't dominate the MAAC on a level like Cluess (or Pitino or others) did during their tenures, and his job at the Hall is a "mixed bag" IMO.

I feel zero sympathy for the Hall. There isn't a school or fan base in the league that roots for our demise more than them.

Apparently they're saying Sha doesn't want a GM and is handling everything himself. Sounds like a disaster set-up this day and age.
