Homeland And All Things Maher

That works. But the referees must use it consistently even when they are in a country like Mexico which much has some fans who throw bottles, and bags of feces and urine.
You want to be a professional footie referee, that’s the stuff you gotta deal with. Hate to say it, but CONCACAF refs it’s matches like it’s the WWF. It certainly adds to the circus atmosphere a lot of these matches seem to induce.

If it’s a set rule: you “drew” a foul, VAR intervenes, it’s not a foul, you get a card…call me naive, but I think this would help. Especially if you’re on a yellow already. Don’t make it a guessing game, make it a set rule.

Rest in peace to Val Kilmer. Two of my favorite movies as a kid, Nick Rivers from Top Secret and Chris Knight from Real Genius. To playing Jim Morrison to all the other great movies he starred in. Seriously, Chris Knight is one of my favorite characters in any movie ever. Just happy he’s not in pain anymore.

One of the greatest endings to any movie and how can you not think of this scene whenever you hear this song?

When I was a teen in the late 80s/early 90s, there was a mom-and-pop video store in my neighborhood that would rent movies for $1 on weekday mornings if you returned them by something like 4 p.m. for the evening crowd.

So during the summer when work was inconsistent and my friends and I had nothing going on, we'd pool our meager earnings together and rent whatever meager offerings the store had.

That's where I discovered "Top Secret." I don't think I ever laughed so hard during another movie. We must've rented that five or six times that summer.

I had no idea Val Kilmer was capable of slapstick since he was starring as Jim Morrison at the time plus he was super douchy as Iceman in "Top Gun."

Just a phenomenal talent. RIP.

This is probably my favorite Doors song to begin with (I’m real hot and cold with Doors songs) but this is him at his most mental and that this is him actually singing is crazy. One of the best bio-pics ever and it’s all because of him.

Finally caught up to A Complete Unknown on tv. I liked it, the music was good, the acting was good. I didn't mind some of the juggling of events and dates around. I thought Johnny's Cash's influence was overblown, but what do I know. Interesting living in NJ the producers substituted Hoboken for Greenwich Village and Cape May for Newport, so that was fun. I'd rate it a B, maybe a B+. Alan Lomax comes off as a jerk. Alan Grossman almost a buffoon.

When I saw Congress Hall in the background, I shouted, "I've been in that parking lot too!"

Such a New Jersey thing to say.

I loved it but then I am a huge Dylan fan and remember those days very well as I went to both Newport folk and Jazz festivals although not the one where he went electric as I was only 13 then lol. I do think Dylan and Cash were mutually big influences on each other although always remember that being more pronounced in the later 1960s.
The acting by Chalamet and the actors who played Joan & Pete Seger was particularly good and the music was outstanding. My wife, oldest daughter and I liked it enough to watch it a second time when it came out on Hulu,

I was at first Dylan electric performance at Forest Hills Stadium after Newport.

I saw a co-bill Dylan and Van Morrison two nights at The Theater at MSG, one night Bob went first, next night Van went first.

One of those nights the Stones were in the Arena upstairs, the ticket-takers (dating myself) were shouting "Dylan and Morrison to the Left, Rolling Stones to the Right".

Glad to see so many people liked A Complete Unknown. Of all the oscar noms from this past year, I think it will be the one I go back to rewatch the most.

I understand the critiques of the film, that it leans heavily on the songs themselves and doesn't carve out much of a story on its own. But some of that is kind of what I love about it. Because the songs tell the story, what the songs meant to the listeners, and how that changed over time as Dylan's inspirations changed are what tells the story. Rewatched it recently and liked it even more

Wow. As someone who’s only a Stones fan (and very particular about which songs I like) and who doesn’t care for Dylan or Morrison at all, that’s insane to have that all in one building in one night. “Hurricane” is literally the only Dylan song I like.

come on Guinness, you've got to like Van's Brown Eyed Girl or maybe GLORIA or Moondance? Or Dylan's Tangled up In Blue? His work with the Traveling Willburies? LOL;)

There was a lot of musical talent in that building that night. The Buzz was the performers would all appear together at some point; never happened, Dylan and Morrison didn't even appear together.

I'm a bigger Van fan than a Dylan fan (love both), but that night Dylan was On His Game, he gave a great show and was frankly better than Van. I wished somehow I got to see The Stones that nght too, but later on did go to see a Stadium show of theirs, they were great. Football stadium show suck however.

I hate Brown Eyed Girl with a passion haha and you don’t want my opinion on Bob Dylan. I do wish Jimi covered every song of his because then I May actually like it. His “Like a Rolling Stone” from the Woodstock album his one of my favorite covers. I also hate Rush and tolerate the Beatles. I do respect the music, it’s just not my cup of tea.

I’m a hardcore/punk/hip-hop guy though so there’s probably (definitely) a lot I like that you’d hate 😉.

Punk Irish hip hop, then thoughts one of my favorite bands, who I probably saw 50 times in the Paddy Reilly Music Bar on Second Ave back in the day: Black 47, and later Chris O'Byrne's Shenachi Unity Squad? Hung with hip hop Chris back at Rocky Sullivan's when it was on Lexington.

Jimi's cover of All Along The Watchtower is superb.

I hate Rush too and many of those bands with high-voiced singers, Yes too, and the rest of them, but I might be in the minority on that.

How about the Thirteenth Floor Elevators for hard core early-on? Another punkish rock band out of England The Pretty Things. [then again I think I'm a lot older than you}
