2025 Portal

I know Iowa wouldn’t seem like an easy transition playing style wise, but he is a pretty athletic kid. Great shooting numbers and does others things well. I’m sure there’s defensive question marks. Trilly put him on his transfer list.

This guy screams irritating Creighton guy to me. He went to HS 15 minutes away.

This is an old name from the past. Has had his issues and been everywhere. The only reason I saw him is because he is the only player in the country with more offensive rebounds then Zuby. 6'7 guy who is more known as a scorer but FOUR orebs a game this year after 2.5 each of the last two years is a pattern. Pretty sure he's got one year left. From Queens, we need some length on the wings with Kadary and Scott leaving at the very least.

YES I THINK WE SHOULD BE TARGETING BETTER PLAYERS

Always room for a guy that grabs 4 offensive rebounds.

I speculated about adding him last year. I'm prefacing this by saying you have to assume everything off court checks out (e.g. good practice player, happy with role off the bench, etc.), but he seems like the type of guy who comes off the bench on these top SEC teams and produces in big games.

Would be a super pickup basketball wise if and only if he checks out otherwise

I'm recklessly speculating here but Moe Odum from Pepperdine was insane during the WCC conference games, shooting 14-29 from 3pt. He's from the Bronx and went to HS in NJ. Evan Miya has him with the third best playmaking score in the country. He also seems to have a great attitude. Team was losing by 20+ with 3 minutes left and he was standing from the bench clapping/cheering them on.

I looked him up on youtube to post a highlight reel, and found he was also teammates with Ayo in IS8. He was also at Pacific before Pepperdine, the same school where Jenkins was prior to Iona.

I'm not saying this guy should be headlining any portal class of ours. But I see him in a similar way as Durugordon.

The best part of the portal is that we can confidently know the staff will bring in top players that fit the team identity next season.

This, while we as fans get to enjoy the current season that still has many more magical moments in store for us.

With players in the portal--Do they contact schools they wish to attend? Or do schools seek out players for their programs? Or both ways?

The chance for a "basketball Oxford education," playing for Pitino, would seem to open the floodgates for transfers.

My understanding is you can enter the portal with a "Do Not Contact" tag, which means only the player can reach out to the school. If they don't have that, then its probably two-way. I also think for vast majority of guys, there's talking with intermediaries before/during/after the season (but before entering), so guys know what they're getting into to begin with.

I find this x100 more stress free than last year, since its clear we'll have a competitive budget + it seems like we'll return everyone we want to. Fun to speculate and look at other players, but I know they'll find the right guys.

I do as well, but actually have been wondering one thing. If Repole is such a large part of our NIL, do we know how much he's ponying up for next year? Same amount? More?

I think Matt A on Vice said something along the lines of Repole making it clear that we won't lose a player because of money. I have decided to take that literally and seriously.

On a side note, I watched a Sloan conference panel with Andrew Luck and Woj about what being a college GM means & what their jobs are like. Both said if a player is talking about NIL/$$$ first then they aren't going to go there. Seems like we have a similar approach.

This is the guy King Rice warned teams about tampering with early this season. Could be a portal candidate looking for a bigger program, conference and pay day. Definitely would want to kick the tires on and check under the hood. I would expect if he does portal, Creighton would try to bring him back home. I saw him play on ESPN and was impressed.

Fyi, as noted earlier, his brother is committed to Auburn next season.
