Big East 2025 Regular Season and Conference Tournament Champions - St. John's Red Storm

I may be a minority of one here, but while winning the regular season title is a great step forward for the program it is not a "now I can die happy" moment for me.

I don't think anyone other than the fans of a particular program, statisticians and hardcore junkies remember regular season titles.

It's the conference tournament winners and deep NCAA runs that get remembered. Lose the conference but make legendary BET run, get to the Elite 8 or Final 4 or beyond - people remember that.

Let's take the next step to having a truly memorable year!
As a fan the season has been special. Winning the BET will make it even more special.
The NCAA tournament results will be the most important determining factor in how we will be viewed nationally by college basketball fans, writers, other programs and future players.

I agree with you lawmanfan. Although I think it’s more important for all the fans who have ZERO recollection of St. John’s doing absolutely NOTHING in their lifetime. I think some of the older guys myself included have seen winning. I mean I know some 30 year olds who know us as a doormat. For them sitting on top of the BE is almost unthinkable. At least we have moved into the “anything is possible” zone.

Agree with the “Anythings Possible” conclusion. If we play well to our defensive potential like we did vs Uconn ,i feel sky is the limit. If we play like we did vs Butler and Seton Hall, not so much. But the potential is there to go very far. As Rick said early in the season, this could be a very special team. It is great to hear Zuby and RJ say they bought in 1000% to Pitino and Defense. RJ said yesterday he “loves” playing D! Rick quotes Zuby when Uconn pulled to within 9 points that we can win this game , been here before, and they will not accept losing!

I sort of agree, sort of disagree. For someone like myself who sadly and unfortunately only began really getting into this team in the early 00's, this is a memory and season I will always cherish, no matter how the rest of the year plays out. With what has happened with this program the past 25 years, I didn't think a moment like this was even possible. So while I hope and dream for more, this one just feels great to have witnessed.
I think next year or year after if we don't have post season success I'd feel same but for this year this season, barring first round exit in tourney, is a smashing success and one I'll always cherish

I’d like to make at least the sweet 16
Winning the Big East regular season title, making it to BET final and the Sweet 16 would be a hugely successful season based on where almost everyone felt we were at the start of the season. Now that we're here I'd be very disappointed at the moment if we lost in the finals of the BET or in a sweet 16 game but would still look back on it as a great season. Doesn't mean I don't think we can do better and rooting for just that.

+1000

To me it’s all gravy at this point, still amazed that we pulled this off, so far. Am just going to sit back and enjoy it all, while squirming in my chair on every possession.

I’ve already told my partners at work they won’t see me for a month so I don’t plan on us losing for a while . For now I’m basking in this win which has never happened to me as a fan since 87

I’ll start worrying about the tournament Saturday the day before selection Sunday

This season wildly successful beyond my imagination

All true, but over the years a team can flame out (even early) in Conference Tourny, but win a national Championship or go very deep into the Big Dance.

2003 Syracuse gets a bye, squeaks by a bad Georgetown team, losses in the Semis to decent Conn. team by 13, eventual winner is Pittsburgh (20 point win over Uconn.)

National Champ Syracuse and Big East regular season Champions.

Good point, it may be a generational difference between those of us who date back to consistent relevance and somehow view the last 25 years as an aberration LOL

It's been an absolutely great season thus far. Couldn't have asked for more. 35 year season ticket holder. My son, born in 1985, is named Christopher, for obvious reasons. My wife used to change him into his PJs on the crowded bleachers seats, JJ 13 & 14, when we still brought him to games as an infant.

We just sold our house in Nassau County (headed to a new condo Community in western Suffolk County), so we'll finally be off to our Florida home Tuesday.

I tell you all this because I hope I don't jinx this incredible season by now watching our beloved Redmen from Florida instead of NY. I know it's crazy, but I really have felt that watching them live this season or at home in the same St. John’s sweatshirt (washed in between games) in NY as opposed to some other state, is a big reason for their success this season.

Such is the life of a 55 year fan!
Best of luck in the new place.
