Why did we not get Prey more minutes last night? Also Smith while he had some good plays, on defense he was getting beat the whole night by their guards. Have to play better defense. RJ gets the game ball last night.
Also wondered why so much Vince and so little Prey!

We all wonder that. Maybe when you ask your top donor for 400-500k for a 7’1 center you feel obligated to show something for it for future investments?

Pitino also has to keep him happy for another month. It’s a lot easier to tell a freshman to be patient than a junior. We don’t have these concerns as fans.

I liked that Vince played confidently on the offensive end. He has some moves in the block. Defensively....Not so much.

On to the Garden and face another ex-Redmen and clinch the championship

Definitely don't think it has anything to do with the first part. Pitino, if there was any doubt, has proven that we have the infrastructure in place to make good investments in the portal -- on every spectrum of investment.

If I had to guess (only speculation), I'd say probably a combination of: Prey having a lackluster practice, Pitino thinking Vince was a better match-up for Butler's bigs than Prey due to their size, and Pitino still being stubborn that Vince can be helpful for a five minute spurt in the BET or March if Zuby is in foul trouble.

I know he speaks glowingly of his upside, but I don't see it at this point. Kadary is a unicorn and will be impossible to replicate in the portal. The team's next best chance at having this level of defensive success is finding a true, big body center who can play next to Zuby on offense. Vince ain't it.

Prey can play basketball, Vince can’t.

Vince can score, Prey cant.

The black and white nature of some of these posts is crazy. Each guy does things. Each guy is poor at some things.

As of now, I think Prey is more serviceable especially since we don't need him to score. Hopefully if he is here next year, he gives something on the offense end.

I think that Vince is a work in progress. He is a presence, but often seems a out our of sync and sorts.

Each guy I think warrants limited situational minutes. If I had to pick one for extended play this year, if needed, it would be Prey. But I would not write Vince off for the future.

The issue is that Vince turns 22 in April and has already played high major basketball for three years. If he was a freshman, I'd agree.

ugghh ...i am always for retention....and actually feel Vince was serviceable last night... but... i will not be heartbroken if Vince chooses to go dominate the A10 next yr...

A major red flag in "box score scouting" (which I'm putting in quotations because there's truly no replacement for watching actual games in context, instead of highlights or numbers), is in Vince's ten best "game score" in his collegiate career (which basically measures productivity based on his box score), his team's record is 2-8. The two wins are against Eastern Washington with USC and Delaware with us.

Vince is weeks away from being a senior. What future do you see for him, Colonial Athletic Conference 6th man of the year candidate?

And how exactly is he a “presence” when he’s 30 feet from the basket in the deepest crouch on the court like he’s defending AI?

Vince is less of a presence than any 7'0"+ player I can ever remember (OK, Curtis Johnson. But still...).

As to the first point, he has eligibility left. The staff may indeed encourage him out, but I would not mind him being back, as I said with situational minutes.

As for your second point, that is a gross exaggeration and generalization. Yes, he is often out of position and not that mobile. But he has altered many shots. I think he is weakest as a rebounder for his size.

But, hey, these are just opinions, and I try to steer away (sometimes unsuccessfully) from hating on our players. You should try it. ;)

I kind of hope we gave him at least $90,000 in NIL. He should take that money and finish up at NYU and score 20 a game against 6'6 centers.

our backup center who doesnt play much needed to get some big minutes cause of Zubys foul trouble. He gives us solid minutes and even chips in 7 points.

And this thread has turned into a whine session about him.

Pathetic.
He has no rebounding skills whatsoever.

Probably safe to assume Maker can do that for us.

Vince will not be here, so no point in anyone getting too attached. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but NIL makes this a business more than ever.
