Around College Basketball

Recommend listening to the interview.

Easy to arm-chair commissioner on the internet. I've been critical of her, but she's clearly bright + has the right values + understands the situation we're in. It does make me wonder, however, if its time to get an outside-the-box thinker in there.

I'm curious if anything comes to actual fruition, and desperately hope these "alliances" aren't with mid-majors & below. I think that would backfire big time.

I don't see how it would work without football, but if the BE teams can get a cut of football money it would be worth it. Personally though I would rather see A-10 teams come to BE and keep the name Big East

Would like to see a working relationship whereby each league keeps its own identity but maybe integrate min. required games between leagues and maybe combine a year end tourney in a limited way. Maybe BE champ vs. ACC champ or Final Four of 2 top teams from each league play for a Chamionship series and call it something else like the Eastern Super Tourney ! Lets not have them give up their League identities nor their natural geographic rivalries. I could see though maybe taking back some of lost BE geographic rivalry teams like Cuse and BC and maybe one more to make a 14 team league( pick one of Pitt, U of L, Miami, etc.)

Who are the elite coaches in the ACC, was this a sarcastic comment or is the writer stuck in 2014? There's some potential elite coaches in the young group but the only elite adjacent guys at this point are Brownell, Scheyer, and Kelsey. They should be happy to be joining Pitino, Hurley, McDermott, Shaka and Miller. Hell the 2nd string of Holtmann, Matta and Cooley are better than most in the ACC.

He also called Val a dude.

Interesting read by Mike Waters under a paywall on Syracuse's NIL issues.

Interesting story on Kasary. According to Mike there was legit interest by Syracuse and Kadary on a reunion but the NIL by Syracuse was simply not competitive.

Not sure about the timing having won two out of the last three games and being how late in the season this is. They haven’t been terrible so why not wait until the end of the season unless the rumors were already out.

Watching this TT/Houston game and although they are obviously both really good teams I am not seeing them as unbeatable for St. John’s. I think our defensive pressure would give both teams fits.

The only team that worries me is Auburn. Any team with even slightly suspect guard play we can beat.

Edit: I looked at Duke and they don't really worry me. Tennessee could be an issue though

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. Seen Auburn a few times and Broome will be a real challenge in the post. I thought I read somewhere they are one of the older teams in the NCAA. (Experienced). My sleeper will be BYU. Another solid looking team.

They have a 25 and 24 yo starter.

BYU is definitely a good sleeper top 25 at EvanMiya. D a little suspect and they are a fantastic home team so neutral courts could be a challenge, but definitely live
