No offense taken logen. Not directed at you, your post is just my vehicle so apologies in advance,
But why do people insist on thinking human beings are one thing? I ignore Hurley posts here because as I have posted, I have known him since his time at Seton Hall and he is a very good dude, his “competitive persona” notwithstanding.
People are certainly entitled to their opinions and Danny wears it on his sleeve and obviously brings a fair amount of the criticism on himself.
But personally, two of my least favorite coaches are John Wooden and Coach K, and not just because both were stone cold cheaters, there were a LOT of those, but because both worked very hard to create public images directly in conflict with the cheating, two total phonies in my book, but most disagree, I acknowledge that. But give me someone who lives life up front every time.
At just under six minutes I posted " we took their souls. this is over". You could just see it on TV, they reached that point that anyone who's played sports can recognize: when you know the team you're playing can't beat you and they know they can't beat you. Just total submission. Even Hurley's presser was subdued (for him) because he knew it had nothing to do with his team. There's literally nothing they could have done to beat us the way we played today. He wasn't even mad.
After the crap we've been through as fans of this program, understandable that in the moment you'd still be dreading a meltdown. Hell, someone in this thread already posted about not taking Butler lightly because it's a tough place to play. LOL But not this year. Not this team.
He took his medication prior to entering the presserAfter watching Hurley's Press Conference, it is hard to believe that this guy who was fine at the presser -- (actually excellent breaking down the game and the two teams, very complimentary to the Johnnies) -- is the same guy who gets into fights with the fans in the stands and harangues refs so much.
Absolutely correct. Our coach is all about defense one of the reasons he loves this year's team. If Lefty were to be a three point specialist who can't defend at all (and I emphasize I don't think that appears to be the case) he'd never be more than a situational player on a good Pitino team.I’ll disagree with SLYFOX1968 post that Lefty will play as long as he makes threes. I don’t think Pitino plays him if he can’t play decent defense. Pitinos style of constant defensive switching requires all five players leave no defensive liabilities on the floor. Pitino will work constantly to correct a players defensive flaws but he will not play if he can’t play at least decent defense.
I hate to give Marillac credit if not talking in the 3rd but Marillac has been money this season
Yup. Most of what I read felt the same. After the first game I saw a lot of we foul but dont get called on defense. Not nearly what I was expecting. Uconn fans were pretty complimentary of us

Last year under Pitino , we had Ledlum and Dingle , Soriano . And , as well as they played they could not reach the level of speed , quickness and athleticism this years team has .
Jenkins , in my opinion , had the speed , knowledge of knowing exactly what Pitino wanted on the Court .
Of course , Pitno loved Daniss from his years at Iona and knowing Rick’s system . I don’t recall Jenkins getting anything but , love from Rick
He had the keys that Rick gave him . Not sure , Rick’s keys this year are anywhere but , his pockets .
Yet !

One of the most encouraging things from yesterday's game (from a future standpoint) was that Liotopoulos was able to stay on the floor and hold his own defensively. He didn't do anything amazing, but he played the position and did not hurt us at all. If he can do that and make some progress (which I think he will), then that allows him to become a rotational player, which brings his shooting into play as a weapon. Very, very encouraging.Absolutely correct. Our coach is all about defense one of the reasons he loves this year's team. can't help yourself can ya? we know it all by heart now, for your sake let it go.Jenkins was a me-first player. Everything was on his terms...like Enright from DePaul. He'd sprint with the ball to a spot and then leave his feet without a plan over and over. He'd step back and take a three at the worst possible points of the game without letting anyone touch the ball. He had historically low fouls drawn -- he'd go 4 games at a time without getting a FT attempt -- which is almost impossible since he dribbled the air out of the ball to a level I have never seen at any level of basketball in my lifetime.
This team is the exact opposite of how he played. They are unselfish and team-first. They draw fouls at a high clip and they are happy to defer to other players. Imagine if Kadary had no conscience like Jenkins? If Jenkins could take 80% of our dribbles, lead our team in shooting, make more than half of the passes of consequence and completely dictate everything, then what could Kadary get away with? Kadary could average 23 10 and 7 a game and we'd be on the bubble.
Kadary puts the team first to a fault. So does Scott. So does Smith. Basically everyone. Smith averages over 40% from three the last two seasons...who would stop him here if he took 7 a game? Pitino has to basically scream at him to be more aggressive.
The team chemistry is off the charts. The whole is exponentially greater than the sum of the parts and that would never be the case for a Jenkins led team. These kids share the ball to a fault and they know they will get it back. The worst feeling in basketball is running down the court multiple possessions in a row and not even touching the ball.
Talented kid? Yes. Great pull-up? Yes. One of our best 3-4 players last year? Yes. The most horrific chemistry killer I have ever seen at any level of basketball in my entire life? Also yes.
Kid can shoot, there's no doubt in my mind about that. He can be the LW Favorite next season if he can hold his own on the defensive end.He hit a three, usually for us that is pretty amazing

The difference in last year vs this year is thatPitino only had confidence in Jenkins with the Car keys .
You have still a years criticism of a player that nearly only a few share that opinion.
Jenkins was 2nd team All BE and given his late season surge, might have elevated to 1 st team ? It’s just a opinion . He’s also on a 2 way with the Pistons , the last time I looked .
But , in the Quarter finals Vs the Hall , he did outplay KR .
This year is different ! There are more and better players on stage this season than last .
Jenkins kept us respectable last season .
KR is better thus year too . Excepting Free throws .
Shot looks pure, much better than either Glover or Dunlap. Guess it will depend on if can play D to Rick’s standards. Obviously tough if have 4 guys playing great D and one guy that struggles. He hit a three, usually for us that is pretty amazing
