Can someone please explain to me why we pressed and picked the ball up full court after Wilcher hit the 3. Makes no sense we had a 1 point lead did not need the ball. After the initial pass our defense was in constant scramble mode. Why not just pick the ball up 3/4 court take some time off the clock and play hard half court D.

So ask yourself this question, what has a better chance of scoring? A Kadary drive and pull up mid range shot, a Luis mid range or a “rushed” and it was, Wilcher three? If you picked the latter, I don’t know what to tell u.
This was for the win at the end of regulation. They were not thinking OT.

But I am sure you will think of something to tell me.

Exactly, we got little off the press most of the game. It was time to play solid half court defense, a mistake in our strategy that yielded an open three against a good three point shooting team and may have cost us the win.

Our offense wasn’t the issue tonight. We scored 71 points and hit 11 threes. We took 37 but still , we never shoot 30% from 3. It was our defense that wasn’t up to par tonight.
Just wondering, but was that Rick's game plan, if it was then it was a shitty game plan

We stink at shooting three's.

Bottom line my brothers is we were due for a loss to allow Pitino to refocus this ream.
The defense was a bit lackadaisical and while the offense wasn't bad, the percentages were still below acceptable levels for a nationally ranked team.

It took a lot of lucky last second 3 pointers for Nova to pull this one out.
There were, as pointed out by a few of our veteran posters, many momentum killers that contributed to the loss.
Vince was his usual high motor but low basketball I.Q. player. Kid doesn't have natural instincts when he touches the ball. Also disappointing was Glover who buckled under pressure with two turnovers in two minutes. Prey's 3 point attempts hurt us but Zuby playing poorly on both ends of the court was a major problem. RJ Luis also had an overall subpar game. Given all of the above, we lost lost by a bucket.
Not sure if we will win the regular season title and it technically doesn't really matter.
We are playing for a good NCAA seed. There is no question that we are a tournament team.
Finally, let's remember that we barely lost the game without the only natural point guard we have in Dev Smith. His absence should temper or disappointment because I firmly believe had he been healthy we would not have suffered those two critical Glover turnovers.
Let us pray for his quick recovery.

Of course we want to win every game we play, but the over the top whining is a bit much. 10 game winning streak snapped. We have still won 16 of our last 18.

Our best teams in the last 40 years have lost games like this.

1982-83 (28 win team)
Ranked #3, lost at unranked BC
Ranked #5, lost at unranked Pitt

1984-85 (Final Four team)
Ranked #4, lost at unranked Niagara

1985-86 (31 win team)
Ranked #10, lost at unranked BC
Ranked #6, lost at unranked DePaul

1990-91 (Elite 8 team)
Ranked #10, lost at unranked Seton Hall
Ranked #8, lost to unranked Villanova
Ranked #8, lost at unranked Providence

1998-99 (Elite 8 team)
Ranked #8, lost at unranked Villanova

Shit happens.

That was a mistake on our part bug time. Additionally, by pressing we run a much higher risk of fouling in the back court resulting in a 1-1 situation. Puzzling at best

No reason to get nasty. You have your opinion , I have mine. I would have gone for the win with a reliable three point shooter but we don’t have one.

But hey the game may have been lost in Novas final possession. As another poster mentioned, our scrambling full court D in the last possession left a wide open three against a team that shoots threes well. I thought that was time to play solid half court D.

Under normal circumstances, I would advise people to step away from the ledge because it is one loss after a 10 game winning streak.

But these are not normal circumstances. Here, I would push people off that ledge because it is one loss after a 10 game winning streak.

I’m forgetting the tough loss by watching the show on Vice TV I missed last night. Our guys never quit and we lost a tough one to a team that hit some big threes whenever we made a run. It happens take a look at other top ten teams that lost over the weekend.

Um the press helped bring us back a couple of times, it definitely bothered them and makes you take longer to get into your offense. That’s why.

There are different types of press and their only intent is not always to come up with a steal.

Should have had Pitino draw up a play for Lefty, amirite? He was 1-for-1 tonight.

How can anyone fault us for EVER pressing? I don’t care what the situation is. We were in this game at the end primarily because of the press.
