I’m beyond upset with this team right now. This was a golden opportunity to solidify our tournament resume, and instead, we go into Villanova and completely lay an egg. How many times are we going to watch this team fall flat in a big road game?

The offense was stagnant, the defense had breakdowns at the worst possible moments, and once again, we let a winnable game slip away. Where was the urgency? Where was the fight? Villanova is not a great team this year, but we made them look like world-beaters.

The bench was non-existent, the rotations were questionable, and we played like a team that expected to just show up and win. Rick Pitino is a Hall of Famer, but even he has to be furious with how sloppy and uninspired this team looked. We were in position to win this game, and we completely blew it.

This team needs to wake up fast. The Big East isn’t getting any easier, and performances like this will have us sweating on Selection Sunday instead of feeling confident. I don’t care how good we’ve looked at times this season—losses like this cannot happen if we want to be taken seriously.

Embarrassing.
Senseless post, they are 5-2 on the road in BE

I don't... I don't think k our d matches up to well to their style of ball movement and getting to rim
IMO, we didn't play well and we're missing an important cog. Not to mention, I thought Villanova hit a handful of "outta your ass" shots. Give me Smith, as well as a few of those shots Villanova made would likely not fall next go around.

I'd like another opportunity at them.

I chalk this loss up to fatigue. RP demands tremendous defensive effort, but usually has the bodies to make it work. Need to get healthy and move on. Almost glad we avoided overtime.

And we still almost won.

Thirty seven threes and twenty four twos. Shoot 67 per cent from two and the usual under 30 from three. Great strategy on Vill or dumb strategy from SJU.

The better team lost. Players know what is and was at stake. I really hope Deivon is healthy, but won't get my hopes up. Big game Sunday.

Go Johnnies!

Didn’t like the defense on the last possession. Kadary took a chance on a steal and left us scrambling the rest of the possession. We had the lead, would’ve like us to pressure but not that aggressively.
Except Luis decided not to scramble; agree with your point about playing straight up though but guys don’t play that way anymore by and large.

Agreed Dink. This was also a do or die game at home for Villanova. Tough spot but we have to play for 40 minutes and stop spotting our opponents double digit leads.
