Providence (MSG), Sat., Feb. 1, 12 NOON, CBSSN

Did they ask Rick about the bizarre Scott for Kadary sub with 2:40 to go?

It was with 4 and change thinking it would extend the under 4 tv timeout rest. No need to ask him why. All coaches do it. Then went 2 minutes without a whistle which is rare in general and very the way the game was going. Would have been longer too but he called just last time out to get him back in the game. Kadary was already at the table to go back in for a minute at that point. It's always a little gamble but rarely works out that badly.

smith hurt

6 of his 10 shots were threes

My point is that likely needs to change
He's a very unreliable three point shooter. I don't agree with Pitino’s confidence in his continuing support of Sim taking 3s.
In this game, Wilcher, Scott and Smith shot a combined 3-23. THAT is an offensive offensive performance no matter how we spin it and the main reason for giving up a 19 point lead.
Those long range bombs took away from going inside to Zuby.
The other reason for the closeness was the abominable defense on Abdur. Come on coach .......who was supposed that to be the stopper on this guy?

I am neither as high on Prey nor as down on Vince as most. I think they are both potential contributors but both have more work to do on adjusting to the speed of the game and their respective vulnerabilities.

I think Vince is more situation-dependent, as in there are guys you can play him against and guys you can't. But despite his ungainliness he has touch around the rim and from the line, recovers well for blocks (no argument it would be better if he didn't have to recover in the first place) and runs the floor better than Prey.

Prey plays the 5 much more solidly and is much better with the ball. And has become a very good defender in spots.
Vince is not a Big East player. It’s not even up for debate. He’s at the end of his junior year, so expecting him to get better in any material way is like spitting into the wind.

Prey is steady and always plays under control. The kid cuts off drives from guards. He has a lot of room to get better as well. He has shown no real weaknesses. It’s fair to say he might not be great, but he’s objectively levels ahead of Vince.

I'm not sure how good Vince can be, but i pretty much guarantee if he puts in work with Rick this summer he will be much better next year.

Prey too.

First, first posting a picture of Zuby and one of my identical twin daughters. He really is a nice kid. He came over to her even before he saw the sign. He's the type of kid that you want representing your program.

Vince missed a year with heart trouble. Patience man, patience.

Kadary in the interview is Kadary on the court....never too high never too low....even keel his control of emotions allow him to be relaxed no matter what's going on around him... This is the KR we talked about all summer..
All i know for certain is that without Kadary we would be at least a million dollars further away from becoming a dangerous March team.

I think the difference with Prey and vince is that Vince doesn't fit our defensive style. Prey can guard all 5 while Vince can only go against a big. The other issue i have with Vince is that when he gets his hands on the ball he feels obligated to be a scorer where prey looks to make passes and keep the ball moving.

Vince useful against Creighton to be a body on kahk. Not sure where else I see him being useful other than giving zuby a chance to rest.

Zuby is 100% class. He was phenomenal with every kid on autograph line at Carnesecca in December.

The whole team was very good. Great bunch of guys

Prey has been coming along nicely. Why he didn’t see much time today doesn’t make any sense.

A win is a win but plenty to learn from the game tape.
He didn't look good in his first half minutes today. Assume a message was being sent

Coming home on LIRR from a great game at Garden. Tremendous atmosphere that we have not seen in decades at MSG

special play by a guy with ice water in his veins to win the game.

then you come on here and it is one complaining post after another. Man I just don’t get it.
Thanks for a clear and concise statement. Yes we have had some close games, but also some blowouts.
Bottom Line, we are 19-3 and 10-1 in the Big East. You won't hear me complain.
Let's Go St. John's!!!
