SJU Portal Targets

100% agree, which is why I'm hoping we have more surprise entries in the portal in the last week. We gotta land someone in the back court who can be a starter Day 1.
I think that 90% of D1 players, which may be off by 10% on the low side, watch portal transactions and entries by the minute. Your own situation can change in an instant and you enter the portal because of who just committed to your school.

In that regard, it's much worse than pro sports, with multi year contracts not causing an exodus every time new players are signed. That msy be a partial answer to the insanity that exists now, having players commit for more than one season that guarantees their nil deal but prevents them from transferring freely till that commitment is up.

I am in the Logen court on Kadary. A guy close to this situation said his camp has been all over the place and difficult to deal with. Quitting for those games last year because of compensation issue apparently also left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

That said, reality is Rick wants to dance this year and obviously KR can score and make plays, so it seems logical staff will try to make this work. I much prefer Smith, but he may not only want $, which SJU may be able to provide, but a maximum chance to dance at better programs. If I am correct, Pitino gets paid to figure out problems like integrating a free spirit like Kadary, while preserving the team culture he talks about. In summary he is extremely likely entering portal, Smith may prove beyond our grasp and Pitino may opt for Kadary. I still don’t think KR is ball moving maestro we need at PG, but he plays off ball a lot. So if you fill scoring need (not pure shooter) w KR, can they find a solid distributor in the portal?

I'd also be very curious how a reference check goes with Pitino's former boss Jim Boeheim on him.

It's ridiculous to attach whether you play to whether the NIL entities have lived up to commitments. He should have been suspended by the school for doing so but Holloway wasn't about to trash his season's hopes on that. Expect to see more of that since most collectives make commitments without being fully funded. No rules on this, so a collective can make a commitment with zero assets. Storm marketing is on a lot firmer footing than Flattop which is why donors have be steered more towards Flattop, among other reasons.

Dunlap averaged 12 mpg. Wouldn’t expect more of that from Glover.
Dunlap and Wilcher are super immature physically. They look like babies. Glover is more physically ready for college.

I don’t know what that means for his minutes, but the lack of physical readiness definitely factored into my prediction of Dunlap and Wilcher not being big pieces last year.

What are the other reasons? I was steered to Flattop.

If you've never heard of Cliff, you don't follow college hoops much other than the Johnnies which is fine but then your opinions need to be just a little qualified. Cliff was the second best player on a Rutgers team that actually danced in 2022, something we haven't done since 2019.
Are you trying to say that you follow every single team every single player ? What was virginias second best players name? Come on man.

Not saying anything ccccccc that hasn’t
Id expect close to the same which was good enough for 8th in minutes FWIW. He did completely get DNP'd on several occasions though.
For whatever reasons, Pitino obviously was never able to establish rotations and roles last year. Hopefully that does not become a
recurring trend. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out the potential problems with recruiting players out of HS and then “portalling” over them for more than a year.
