Totally agree but again the question needs to be asked if he took a bad shot but we rebounded and scored was it a bad shot. I’m not letting him off the hook I’m saying keep things in perspective and if we are converting hoops on his missed shots and we know for a fact Pitino telling him to shoot who are we to argue
A shot is categorized at the moment it is taken regardless of the outcome IMO.

Yes it's still a bad shot.

If you want to argue "we are such a good offensive rebounding team that bad shots aren't really bad shots because guys can hoist up bad shots counting on the rebounders to get enough of them that we will be a net plus taking bad shots as opposed to playing good offense and taking good shots" then you can make that argument.

It isn't a terrible argument if that's where you're coming from. It is true that any shot with a rebounder in position is by definition a better shot than a shot with no rebounder in position. But that still doesn't make it a GOOD shot, nor does it make it good offense by any traditional use of the phrase.
You kinda get what I’m saying. Pitino wants our guys shooting except Drissa 2 seconds into a game when he’s shooting from the scorers table but I’m saying this team is such an unbelievable offensive rebounding machine bad shots aren’t always bad shots . The ones I hate are the beginning of the shot clock. I’m totally on board with this you and Marillac on that shot

But the point is that no player is perfect, and the fact that there are criticisms of some things a player does is not equal to trashing the player or not appreciating that there are other things the player does well.
I appreciate the point you are making. But like that bit on Seseme Street, or perhaps it was Electric Company, 'one of these things is not like the others' aptly applies to the treatment of the lightning rod Daniss. "Trashing the player" is exactly what has gone on here since the Pace exhibition and that's why he's Carmine Mfp. Granted it's only been a handful..er..a few...er 2 posters mostly, and these are 2 of my favorite posters who are among the most enjoyable reads on here. IF we dance, and HE takes us there with the exact same playing style we've come to know and love, then he won and the haters can s*ck on it.

“Assists aren’t bad”

He’s #26 in the entire country in assists per game

He’s #173 in the country in shot attempts per game

As the great drake once rapped “they scream out my failures and whisper my accomplishments”
He leads the team in dribbling, passing, and shooting. What else is there to do on offense? Set screens and rebound for a 30% shooter?

You don’t think it’s nuts that Daniss Jenkins has the 176th most shots in the country? There are over 350 teams. He’s 361st in field goals made😂 He’s 1,533rd on FT attempts even though he’s 176th in shot attempts. That’s mind-boggling.

Another Bob Sheppard story. I was umpiring the NY State Little League Championships in Staten Island years ago. The year 14 year old Danny Almonte pitched illegally for the Bronx team (found out after the LL World Series ended).

The host team had an announcer that sounded exactly like Bob Sheppard. I couldn't wait to get off the field the 1st game to finally meet Bob Sheppard. So I rushed back to the PA tower after the game, only to find a young man doing the announcing. Like everyine else, I complimented him on his announcing work, and asked him if he had ever been in touch with the Yankees about replacing Bob Sheppard when he retires. He told me he had sent a demo tape to the Yankees, but they told him they wanted a diffferet sounding voice after Bob Sheppard retired. So that's as close as this diehard Yankees fan came to meeting Bob Sheppard.
That’s about as much of a Bob Sheppard story as Die Hard is a Christmas movie 😉🙂

Not really. Especially when he’s top 30 in the country in assists. If he was just chucking and not passing the ball I’d have way more of an issue with him
4 less shots a game and try to get the ball to Soriano a little more and maybe once in awhile look for Dingle, threw his first pass of the season to him last game and he would be fine.

And a true gentleman, a real honor to have him connected to St. John's University.
Bob Sheppard was my “Introduction to Public Speaking” Professor many years ago.

Funny thing was being a Mets fan I had no idea who he was until a Yankee fan buddy of mind starting doing imitations before class. Remember this is way *before* “batting for the Yankees Derek Jeeetah” became eponymous. Of course, I get the bright idea of giving my first two minute speech on why the Mets are a better team and George Steinbrenner is a terrible owner. He laughed all the way through. Then again, he did let me know that we all need to speak “phonetically correct”. My Bklyn/Queens accent was evident. He was old as the hills even then but he was a gentleman to the nth degree. I really respected him as a class act. Proud to have had him as a Teacher and still use his techniques even today.

Many might remember him with “Simms to Bavaro”as well.

When Pitino had the choice for the free throws on the technical a few games ago he chose Dunlap over a slew of guys that shoot 80%. That should tell us all we need to know.

He’ll be over 80% for his career. Of that, I am certain.
Actually, that’s where the troubles began. I think it in his head right now and the fact that he doesn't go to the line often means it probably weighs heavier on his mind when he gets the rare opportunity to go.
