I'm sure Rick would disagree. The chances of a pass completed will be much greater than guessing somebody grabs an offensive rebound. Sometimes, like late in the shot clock, a poor percentage shot is the only alternative, otherwise always look for the best shot in any possession.
So there are good shots, bad shots, and terrible shots.
A good shot is a high-percentage (for you) shot you take at the right time and in the right position. Glenn Taylor takes lots of these. Jenkins, Luis, Dunlap - not so much.
A bad shot - which is what you are describing - is a shot that doesn't quite meet the above criteria BUT there is a rebounder in position who may be able to clean up your mess., OR you take it when there is someone else who had a better shot and you didn't give them the ball. That still doesn't make it a good shot, it just doesn't make it a terrible shot.
Terrible shots are 3s early in the clock for no reason etc.
Except we are the BEST offensive rebounding team in the country.

Totally agree but again the question needs to be asked if he took a bad shot but we rebounded and scored was it a bad shot. I’m not letting him off the hook I’m saying keep things in perspective and if we are converting hoops on his missed shots and we know for a fact Pitino telling him to shoot who are we to argue
I may be over simplifying things. But my personal analysis of Jenkins is he's forced to do too much because not only is he playing out of position, but he's one of the few on the team who can create for himself, and we don't really have anyone else totally trustworthy handling the ball.
So a lot is falling on his shoulders as a result of these collectively.

You literally described Jenkins, man. They are the same player except one is a 6’8 soph and the other is a 6’4 5th year senior.
With you, I find it wild that you knocked Posh for months specifically because of his poor shooting and you call another objectively bad shooter “special.”

Jenkins 40.5% from the field, 30.1% from 3, 78.4% from the line
Their statistics across the board are shockingly similar…assists, rebounds, turnovers, etc. One is in the running for a second defensive player of the year and the other can’t defend his position. So how is one special and the other so bad?

When he does try to get others involved he is a good passer and we are a better team. He is actually a better playmaker than scorer but chooses to do what he is not good at more often than what he does do well.
And yet still close to top in assists ?
Having the best offensive rebounding team in the country is no reason to hoist a bad shot. (basketball 101)
Having the best dribbler on the team is no reason to dribble incessantly causing team mates to stand around and watch you (basketball 101)
Being the best shooter on the team doesn't mean you should take all the shots.
Basketball is a team sport requiring cohesive play from members who know their roles and blend them together.

If you want to argue "we are such a good offensive rebounding team that bad shots aren't really bad shots because guys can hoist up bad shots counting on the rebounders to get enough of them that we will be a net plus taking bad shots as opposed to playing good offense and taking good shots" then you can make that argument.
It isn't a terrible argument if that's where you're coming from. It is true that any shot with a rebounder in position is by definition a better shot than a shot with no rebounder in position. But that still doesn't make it a GOOD shot, nor does it make it good offense by any traditional use of the phrase.

Again another problem is we have a guy shooting less but shooting over 60%
Being the best free throw shooting team in the country means nothing if you hardly get to the line.
Give me assists compared to pgs and also assists to turnovers

Of the top 15 teams in the country he takes more shots and shoots a worse % the all but UConn kid.
He literally didn’t have the ball all the game last game people were saying he was playing off ball but he wasn’t. Again I agree he overdribbles. I like creighton type movement. But I’m not so sure our team is that type of team and we are winning. I told 114 go 4-4 in January I’ll be happy go 5-3 I’d be ecstatic 2-6 is CMA type stuff. But you absolutely have to factor in our offensive rebounding
