Soriano Zuby comparison unfair. Soriano was a beast for much of the season, then completely lost his mojo and looked lost and deflated. At his best was a far superior and polished player. Zuby is a better athlete with more raw potential but was unskilled but continually improving. Soriano's season began like first team.all big east but ended out of the nba draft. Zuby is a gazelle and potential rim protector, Soriano a plodder in comparison.

Joel was limited on defense. Always getting beat by his man . If you look at the numbers. The team was better when Zuby was on the court. It was by a large number.

Then why did Pitino play Joel 30+ minutes a game? Guess he didn't agree with you, huh?

I can’t find in the box score here. How many points and rebounds did Soriano have in this game? Not sure he played from my recollection.

Joel and Zuby such different players. Joel was a very solid player for three years for us; but had a hard time with playing Pitinos defense and he seemed to really get frustrated at times last year. Did play better towards the end of his season.
Zuby showed talent and energy last year but was very raw. I expect if he plays for us for three years we’ll be looking back on his career very fondly.

Just shows how much better Joel was. Very under appreciated. If not for the injury, we dance.

We weren't dancing. It's so easy to say that an injury limited someone as an excuse. I didn't notice anything different about him physically all year. If you look at his game logs, he had monster games every month, so where was he injured? It wasn't early in the year when he was scoring a lot...it wasn't his back to back 21 point games 1/24 and 1/31. It wasn't in February when he went for 13 and 12 on only 9 shots against SH or when he went for 14 and 12 on just 7 shots in the Big East tournament in March.


His demise aligned perfectly with Luis playing and the increased aggressiveness from Dingle. Only one ball, and soph Luis and he who shall not be named on the court at the same time + an aggressive Dingle made Soriano an afterthought on offense.

Joel was a terrific performer here for 3 years, and by all accounts, was a great person too.

I'm grateful for everything he gave us.
