Not at all. Before his injury, Joel was the man last year. Zuby can't do what he did.
Zuby a better defender than Joel for the way Pitino wants to play defense, IMO

Still no comparison.
Joel couldn’t play a lick of defense. He rebounded and could score better, sure. Coach would take Zuby and Prey combo all day over Joel.

By Year End, Zuby was an all around better player than Joel.
I think this is overstated. Zuby averaged 11 minutes in BE play last year.

ST John’s fans hate its best player. Harrison, Ponds, Champagnie, Soriano and now Luis. Time honored tradition.

Ehhh I think a lot of us felt better with Zuby on the floor many times at the end of the season. It was close.
It’s not close now. Zuby and Prey all day.
Don’t think Pitino did. Zuby over 20 minutes 2x and never more than 23.
Joel under 20 minutes 3x and never less than 17.

Geno and Mase jr don’t count because the were Norm’s best players.
Jenkins was our best player but made no one else better, in fact made the players worse. But towards the end just embraced the fact that was who he was.
Soriano Zuby comparison unfair. Soriano was a beast for much of the season, then completely lost his mojo and looked lost and deflated. At his best was a far superior and polished player. Zuby is a better athlete with more raw potential but was unskilled but continually improving. Soriano's season began like first team.all big east but ended out of the nba draft. Zuby is a gazelle and potential rim protector, Soriano a plodder in comparison.
More recently, it was stated that Joel had knee injury during later part of season. Didn't recall any mentions during so unknown if true & kept quiet or a reason to cover the drop in performance
I don’t think anything you said is false Beast, but when they are the only two 5s on a team they can definitely be compared.

Just shows how much better Joel was. Very under appreciated. If not for the injury, we dance.
I'm not saying itsunfair to compare them, just to draw a convlusion as to who was better by seasons end is unfair because Soriano was not the same player he was earlier. His season ended at his low, Zuby's at his high. That's all.
Joel was limited on defense. Always getting beat by his man . If you look at the numbers. The team was better when Zuby was on the court. It was by a large number.
